Hey guys,
I just got back form seeing Prometheus 3D with my other half, and I just want to give my opinion on it.
Firstly:
- The acting is better then I had expected, the characters show depth and personality
- The reactions and actions taken by the characters are realistic to the situations
- The effects were magnificent, especially in 3D

SPOILER ALERT
------------------------------------------------------------------
I was astounded that producers had found yet another way to continue the "alien" franchise, now at first, having not pay'd attention to the trailers etc. I had no idea this was in the "alien" series.
Then I saw the "weyland corporation" which is a big focus in all of the alien series. And realised that prometheus was another part of the series. And...to be fair they executed it brilliantly...
They start the movie promising the answers to why we are here, who created us....AND obviously, they NEVER answer the 1st one. The premise for the movie is great, a race of higher beings genetically engineerd the human race, fantastic.....
But we also learn at the end they were responsible for the creation of the "alien " race. While this makes good fluff, it leaves far too many plot holes for me to be comfortable with...
in AVP 1-2 which takes place in the same years it was filmed, the human race encounters the "aliens"...and the weyland corporation learns about them, YET in Prometheus, which is set in 2095 and the main characters ARE they weyland corporation, they seem to know nothing of the images and drawings on the new planet which clearly show these "aliens".
I understand that the "aliens" from the rest of the series, were not really the focus in Prometheus, but still. there is far to much left unexplained. Like the fact we find out that the same race that created human life, also created the "aliens" to be used as a biological weapon, against us.
It makes little sense. And THAT is the biggest problem I have with this movie, it just doesn't seem to make sense, the ships they are using in 2095 appear more complex, faster and generally more advanced then the one's we see in the previous "alien" movies which are set HUNDREDS of years in the future....but again, I guess that isnt the focus of the movie.
I suppose in the end, id have to say Promethues was a great movie.....just not a great film, it left too much unexplained....possibly in order to pave the way for yet another "alien" movie, we'l see.
My rating: 7/10
Worth watching for fun, but prepare to be a little disappointed when they leave you with more questions then answers.
