Hi Everyone,

I've just put the finishing touches on Space Station. This new map is set aboard the International Space Station and involves a conflict between the USA and the USSR (which was dissolved well before the ISS was started). I've gone and mapped out the various modules and externally the station looks very much like the ISS. Internally: the same cannot be said. The map plays best with Team Death Match (tdm), especially with: fast spawning, no destroying initial blocks and black fog. Since there are so many complex computer systems and codes that are needed to keep the station in orbit, you must use Pyspades as the server application. If you fail to do this the station will fall out of orbit! I've attached a video for you convenience and some cool images so you can see the general layout and game-play.

Got it running on my server, look for Ki11aWi11 - Arena. Map rotation is: Space Station, RigReloaded, Deck Arena and Plane Assault.

EDIT: okay I take it back it's rather linear and all the sideroads lead to a dead end. So that part was boring. Also walking around the hallways is annoying.

Maybe more spawns at those long hallways to the solar panels would help I guess, but what it really needs is more and more meaningful sidewalks.

I realise this but the problem is do I compromise realism for gameplay?

Or just make another similar map that I use to design the layout?

Realism, AoS... Those words don't make sense together.

You're supposed to focus on FUN. And FUN only. That's what games are for.

What the map is basically a straight line with a few obstacles. Serious_Sim's airplane worked because it had many neat sideways and levels. Pull some creativity in, make the ISS crash into a house tadah you get much more playable space.

The map looks amazing, but the gameplay itself gets stale after a while, probably due to the fact that everyone tends to gravitate (LOLOL I SO FUNNY) towards the hallway between the two CPs, rendering the rest of the map useless. You did a great job copying the design of the ISS, but you must remember that the real station wasn't designed for a video game. I'd suggest you just rename the map "Space Station" and model it towards the gameplay side of things.

IMO the map could be saved by just adjusting the windows on the side paths so members of opposing teams can have sniper duels off of them. At the moment the windows are really awkward to look out of.

When on arena this gets really linear, you should add some alternate paths, like perhaps a small satellite flying next to it.

I think I'll the ISS as it is and focus on a new arena map, with the solar panels and all that stuff and then parallel tubes with windows for sniper fights etc.
