Looking for New Computer

Postby FaZe » Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:18 pm

I'm getting a new computer/laptop soon for my birthday, and I was wondering which model I should choose. Requirements:
-Under or around $1500 (flexible by a few $100s)
-Default operating system is windows
-Good for gaming (for example, will be able to run Arma II, CoD, and Minecraft at max FPS. NOTE: I'm not even sure if that's even possible for under $1500)
-No assembly (comes in a box, and you just talk it out and plug it in)
-High quality / long life-time

Any input is appreciated :D

Just buy the parts to build your own. They tend to turn out really good. (Yes, I know you said no assembly, I don't really care.)

Lol, I had just a Tower Desktop, put in an Nvidia GeForce 640, (it was only 120 dollars!! :D), and now it can run tons of games, highest settings. But yeah, don't buy PC's, they're overpriced, and not worth it, assembly is pretty easy too.

If you're just gaming the new i5 3570K processor should do the trick, and with a proper mobo you can overclock it.

For graphic cards with your price range, you can get a GTX 580 or the new GTX 6XX series.

These are just suggestions, but one thing that shouldnt be overlooked is a power supply. You want to get one that is 80+ certified, and probably at least 700W or more. If you get a cheap power supply, chances are it could short circuit your entire system, and yea... bye bye $1500

Also, Newegg is your friend.

Assembling the computer from the parts is piss easy, and even a first timer can do it in an hour or two. Many parts retailers offer an assembly service for a hundred or so, which will get you stuff you've chosen, built with warranty for installation-related damage and might still get it cheaper than a package deal - which very often come with subpar, timebomb-like motherboards and power supplies. It's always a good idea to invest in high quality hardware. You really don't want to see your PSU blow out the blue flames at the wall. Yeah, speaking from personal experience, those black stains wont come off.
