Xbox vs PS3

Postby Droid » Mon Aug 06, 2012 3:15 am

Now hold your breath there. Don't start posting "pc master race", Xbox all day, or PS3 sucks, and maybe even lock this thread before reading what I have to say.

I'm considering getting a new console for myself and want to know what the best deal is financially, etc.

First off, which is better to get used? Personally I hate buying used stuff, especially technology type things. However, because they're a little more than I can afford and I'm really impatient I'm considering it. I know the Xbox has a higher chance of getting TROD within a short time of getting it, but that's all I know. Maybe the PS3 has it's faults too.

Secondly, which is the better buy? This question goes to people who have owned and bought both? I'm more of an Xbox guy and I know if I get one I'm also going to be online constantly. It sounds safer to get the PS3 knowing its free, but then again I'm not too sure.

Is getting a console gonna be worth it with the connecting and internet speed I have? I don't have the best internet. Since its going to be in my room and will probably get a two bar connection in there. I could always get a repeater, but will it be worth it? Im afraid Im gonna be that kid with the horrid lag all the time.
Last but not least, should I save the money I have now and wait a few years for the upgrades to release? I'm kinda worried once I get one of the two its going to get outdated like the other consoles I have. Do know I'm not even close to affording a new one.

Xbawks.
It may be more fragile but you can run it for hours on end.
My fran had a PS3 and could only play 2 hours then take an hour break.
He didn't do it one day and it overheated and fried.

From my searches for a used ps3, I found that xboxs go MUCH cheaper used, and come with alot more. That's what I found out through craigslist =P.
I would of gotten an xbox, since the LIVE is much better.
But I grew up on a ps1 then a ps2, and all my friends have ps3's. It also doesn't hurt that the ps3 internet is free either.
But really, it's just a matter of personal preference imo. Like which controller you prefer. And such like that.

I bought a used 360 Slim with a 4 gig hard drive, and I have to say it's worked very well. In my honest opinion, the Xbox has a slightly better game selection (IMHO Forza Motorsports 4> GranTurismo 5) and like the others said, you could run it for quite a while without frying it. PS3 has free internet and (I believe) has compatibility with PSPGo and Vita, but it costs more (even used)and can't run for long without a cooldown session. Since Xbox is affilated with Microsoft, you get Windows capabilities, with stuff like movies, and if you use Hotmail you use that Email to set up an Xbox Live account. Besides, you can get Minecraft on Xbox. ;)

Both Actually ARE COOL.

but...look at this chart.

PS3: Cool graphics but... (Same as Xbox)

Xbox: COOLER games.

Games are NOTHING COMPARED TO same graphics.

So in my opinion: Xbox.

PS3 doesn't require monthly subscription to play online multiplayer.
When I bought X360 to play CoD and Halo 3 online, I saw:
"You need Xbox Gold to waste your life here. duck you, we want your money."
And it was modified when i bought it. So i was screwed over.

Never knew about this frying issue the PS3 had.

Well, so far an Xbox is probably gonna go on my wish list. Thanks.

(This belongs in Gaming, but I was so tired last night I screwed up. My bad.)

Here is some tips about the good and bad of both consoles:

Ps3's controller might feel a little unnatural if you have big hands and xbox has a much more natural feel. Of course you can simply get controllers that copy each other's feel so that is not much of an issue.

I have had my ps3 on for many hours a day full blast and it has had no troubles running in a closed cabinet.
Xbox as we all know has it's overheating problems, so if you do purchase one, get a used s-model and buy one of those side fans with it.

Valor is a smart man, both consoles have faults and benefits that equal everything else. Just get which ever you think you'd be happy with.

I've had my Xbox for 4 years, never had a problem with it.

My PS3 never got any of this overheating issue. I play hours without end on a closed room without air conditioning and it only once overheated, even here in Cuiabá where it you see 42ºC on a normal basis.
But yeeeeah, it is really personal preference. I got the PS3 specially because of the FREE internet, had PS1 and PS2, I don't really play anything besides FPSs and Need For Speeds(although it has been a long time I've played any NfS), the control always felt better for me than the Xbox and some other small reasons.

If you really play Minecraft on Xbox, you deserve to be erased from the Gene Pool. Seriously, our gene pool is already polluted enough.
