Vegans, Vegetarianism and Gary Yourofsky

Postby ChaosTLW » Thu Jun 28, 2012 3:49 pm

Video
This is a quite interesting video I've found on youtube, on a channel a friend indicated. It is a 30-minute video, but it is worth watching, IMO. He has another video on the subject(his original video, actually), but it doesn't has subtitles.

I hope I don't end starting a flame war ._.

We are here because the Universe offers conditions so life can evolve,to the point where(at least one)species,in a small planet around a star lost between millions of galaxies,is able to ask itself:What was my origin? (M. Gleiser)

I watched a little of the the vid, and decided to look up Gary Yourofsky and his credentials. I just watched a bit of his speech too - and that was enough.

Long story short, I can see where this is headed. This is not a man that needs to be advocating animal rights. If any mods stumble on this thread, keep a close eye on it.

He's got some interesting quotes too:

“My whole goal is for humans to have as little contact as possible with animals.”

“Do not be afraid to condone arsons at places of animal torture.”

“What we must do is start viewing every cow, pig, chicken, monkey, rabbit, mouse, and pigeon as our family members.”

"So, while my lifestyle and lectures are based on compassion, those who refuse to stop harming animals force me to support 'eye for an eye' and 'by any means necessary' philosophies."

"Rapists, murderers and child molesters should be vivisected, executed and dissected, allowing researchers the opportunity to gather useful information that would actually benefit human health for a change."

I'm gonna have my hamburger, and eat it too, thanks.

Haha same. There is a little thing called "going to far"...in the end, we are all animals, and its a dog-eat-dog world out there (excuse the pun).

That guy got some extreme facial hair!

Anyway , nothing can or will change my opinion about eating my jolly good meat , no matter what Mr. Baldy Baldeson aka Gary Yourofsky say.

And not eating meat is stupid for the "animals are just like us" cause because if we don't eat them , some other random animal will , so i just busted Mr. Gary Hip. S. Ter. Yourofsky.
Ashamed to be brazilian , monarchist.

He seems to forget the whole survival thing, It's in our blood to eat animals.
Just like it is for wolves to eat pigs. I think he should be admitted to a mental hospital because of the whole Arson thing.

Anyway, I like meat so to each his own.

Has anyone actually watched the video lol? The guy on the video, Pirulla25, is actually counter-arguing AGAISNT Gary Yourofsky, pointing his falacious and lying arguments.

I watched a bit of it, got the gist of what he was getting at.

Have you watched the original Yourofsky speech vid? I kid you not, 3 mins in and you'll have enough.

I actually watched around 12~13 minutes. But yeah, what I said was mostly aimed at Crisis.

Bad thing is, we eat animals, we're going to die! Y'know, meat does cause alot of evironment problems. We almost have non-animal hamburgers anyway(not from animals, if you know what i mean)

That's why we are developing green ways to have a shit-ton of animals alive and produce an even bigger shit-ton of grains to feed that shit-ton of animals :D
And, if the non-animal hamburguer ends up costing x2 the cost of the "normal" hamburguer, NO NON-VEGETARIAN will buy it.
