I have a BB gun that fires metal bullets at around 500 FPS. I would use that till I could find a real weapon.

I would first get as many supplies as possible, especially water. I would probably grab a baseball bat too.

I would get on google maps (assuming it is still up) and try and locate the nearest gun store. Go there and loot the place.

Then just wait.

hobohob, if I were you I'd steer clear of gun stores. if your local storing goods store sells guns and the employees can't tell the difference between a clip and a magazine, that's the place to go get a gun. at a real gun store you'd be shot dead long before you manage to get thru the door. or if you arrived late to the party, you'd take a hint from the 500 dead, bullet-riddled bodies stacked like cord wood around the gun store's entrance and turn around, see if you can pick a gun off a dead guy instead. employees at gun stores in my area are armed. you'd have an easier time robbing a police station instead.
