Actually, chainsaw is a shitty weapon. It's big, noisy, heavy and clumsy, and it requires gasoline to run. The noise would attract more zombies, it would be hard to swing around in a tight place like a basement and you would propably be infected by blood spraying all over your face, or atleast blinded. Swinging the chainsaw around blind and the floor being all slippery with blood and guts, you'd slip and accidentally chainsaw yourself to death - If you're lucky.

He has a point, but the same would also apply to most, if not all, other melee weapons. If you have so much as a cut that you got while scratching yourself, and you melee killed a zombie, the blood would splatter everywhere, and even if you were lucky and didnt get infected when you hit one zombie, remember that there is rarely a zombie apocalypse with one zombie. No one is lucky enough to survive a zombie invasion without injury.

A mace won't do. It's too heavy to swing more than 100 times without collapsing from fatigue. Plus if you miss, you may accidentally break something that was next to the zombie, like a box of vital supplies, or maybe a lamp that gives you encouraging light. Plus, what makes you think that one swing will take down a zombie? You have to aim the strike precisely right at the skull with enough strength, so you'd have to get close to the zombies since most maces are short, exposing yourself to even more harm.

Now Now a mace is easier to swing then a sword, assuming its a flanged mace it'll do more damage then a sword causing horrific slash-cuts and broken bones with only the smallest of turns with the elbow let along a full-body swing, and if you break enough bones the zombie might still be alive but there wont be anything for him to move with.

Anyway I dont need to worry about getting close and personal with the zombies, I'll be wearing my full set of plate; I dont think zombies can gnaw through 16 gauge steel.

Oh and steel? Really? Have you ever actually worn a full set of plate armor? Damn heavy just to wear, you'll be exhausted the second you start running. You'll be limited to slow pace walking only, which can have a thousand disadvantages. Yea sure, you'll be almost immune to melee weapons. But just think of the other problems one gets from wearing armor.
