It's like he turned into a 2 block high creature which is holding a gun, lol.
I dug him out after I took the picture and turns out that he was stuck in the ground, so he kept jumping up and down.
EDIT: The gun which i'm holding in the picture is SIMOX's AKS-74 with arms.

Yes, this happens most commonly with idle players. If you ever see your screen to repeat the games look again and again.
You've been blocked like the OP's picture.
To get out just dig below you and dig around you. Simple enough.
If you are on level 0 (the lowest level in the game), and completely blocked in, than the only choice is to chuck a grenade down and commit suicide.
Thought I would post a that because a lot of people seem to rage quit when it happens to them.
