Musician's question.

Postby Fett316 » Sun May 20, 2012 2:46 am

I had a music-related question for the musicians of AoS. I had tried to learn a relatively easy song yesterday and succeeded only to be left not hearing or "feeling" it the same way after.

I'm capable of playing much more complicated pieces of music, but this rhythm screws with my head and left me feeling weird. It's not a feeling that I'm used to having... It's happened before in some capacity, but I found this feeling to be just quite... odd.

Has anyone else had this feeling or had this happen when playing others or their own music?

Don't tread on me's main riff's rythm is quite easily screwed up to something else - a problem I also encountered when picking up this song. A similar feeling came to me from one of the parts in Orion from the same artist - perhaps you know of the riff I am talking about - the pattern sort of leaps over a note.

EDIT: In fact, I only nailed the rythm of the riff after having played the song in Guitar Hero, as it forced me to the correct pattern.

Yeah, i find it hard to do some rhythms that sound easy, such as the intro for this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=oBb7dovm0a8 but then trying to play it exactly like they do really bent me over at first, wheras i picked up the rest of it really quickly, I guess its just something we have to deal with, and as always, practice helps :)

Then again, a tool i use that helps me alot is Guitar Pro 6, it really helps me visulise rhythms.

Download a mod on Guitar Hero and practise it there on expert. Yes, I'm serious.

I know the part you mean, I'm not sure how one comes up with that lol. Guitar Hero... for some reason, that one never entered my mind, I'll take a look at it, thanks!
