Server is killed after some time

Postby rotacak » Thu Jan 26, 2012 2:40 pm

Hi, I running server on CentOS. Everything working well, but after some time (two, three days...) server will crash with this message:
Code: Select all
run_server.sh: line 6:  3364 Killed                  /opt/python2.7.1/bin/python run.py

Any idea why? Or how I can provide more information?

Well I'm just guessing wildly here, but is there any chance you have a cron job that is set to reboot the server every few days? I've been running 3 linux servers for weeks on end now, and I've never had anything like you describe happen.

It would seem like you're either killing the process yourself, or the OS/a service is doing it. According to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1330187, this could happen if memory usage is high.

Are you limited memory-wise? Is this on a VPS?

I have VPS with 512MB RAM, that should be enough... When I tested others programs before, I run out of memory, but program was never killed. But maybe this is different case.

I can get over 512MB w/ just one server. I suggest upgrading your OS and installing some swap.

I notice after about a week memory usage reaches 800MB on high volume servers with the Windows build.
After 2 weeks it can reach 1400MB, eventually it stops responding even though there are resources available.

Sounds like a memory leak of sorts.

Has there been any progress in a fix for this?
New max after 7 days is 1500MB of RAM.

Do you use pyspades with irc enabled?
I found that my memory usage grow over time with irc enabled.
