It would get massive amounts of lag randomly, and kick about half the server.
After logging in, and having to wait almost 2 minutes for a prompt I decided to do a quick "top" command to take a peek.
The linux "init" boot process was taking 100% of all my cores, and was randomly sucking the RAM,
I ran to google and found this:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/68144/in ... -cpu-usage
reboot after doing that, and you will be all fixed up 8)
TL;DR:
do this in your PuTTy:
- Code: Select all
su
apt-get install python-software-properties
add-apt-repository ppa:jammy/upstart.fix-880049
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
after the last command it will pause and ask you :
- Code: Select all
Configuration file `/etc/init/failsafe.conf'
==> Deleted (by you or by a script) since installation.
==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : start a shell to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** failsafe.conf (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ?
simply type Y+enter, and wait...
When you are back on the command-line do:
- Code: Select all
reboot
