How To Post Mods

Postby HaloWarLord711 » Mon May 07, 2012 6:21 pm

hello fellow modders, this is for the people who have difficulty posting mod threads. hope this helps :)

STEP ONE

Screenshots

When You are finished making said mod in slab6, You will need to take a screen shot of the mod.
preferably a good angle shot showing off most of the gun, then maybe a shot of the from the front or back, not required
but it shows off more of your mod.

there are many ways to take screenshots, My favorite way is to use the snipping tool for windows,
Im not sure if it comes for Mac but you can use this instead for Mac:

To take a screenshot ,press Apple-Shift-3. If you prefer to select the location of capture, press Apple-Shift-4, release and position the selection box to the desired location. The images will appear on your desktop in PNG.

To access the Snipping Tool(windows) go to
The Start Menu, click all programs, go to Accessories and Sniping Tool will be in the middle of those items.

Then save the image file to a place you will remember it at.
the desktop is the best place to save it at :)

STEP TWO

Uploading the Image

When You have Your screenshots ready to upload, You will need to find a website that can host images for free.
I use imgur, because in My opinion it is the fastest, easiest and best one to use.
http://imgur.com/ <--- Link to Imgur
You will want to make an account on it, because that way it will save Your images and you will be able to view them whenever.
once you have the screenshot uploaded, You right click the image and click
Copy Image URL, this is what you will use to link others to Your image.

STEP THREE

The file

Now that You have the image ready, You need to save the file.
I save my files to the desktop, because its easier to access them that way
go to your website of choice( I use MediaFire) and upload the file to the site.
Once the file is upload, you might want to name it so You dont forget which file is which.

You will need the link to the file also.
so obtain the link then move to step 4.

STEP FOUR

Your Mod Thread

When you have just about everything you need to become a successful modder, You'll want to think about Your
Mod Thread.
1st. You probably will want a catchy name, but i wouldnt use (XxxXxxxAwEsoMe MoDzzzxxXxxXx)
because that is very annoying and it takes up alot of space.
2nd. a simple (name here)'s Armory or [{(name here}] Gun Rack
would both be a good name.
3rd. You should design your thread in a certain way, such as putting newer mods at the top, or more popular mods at the top, that way people can see Your newer and better things as soon as the page loads.
4th. You might want to add a list of what you have finished and what you are working on, example:

[IN PROGRESS]
M16
____________

[Finished]
ACR
AK-47
SAW
_____________

Things like that help the people viewing your mods know which mod is finished and which isnt.

STEP FIVE

Uploading

Once you have your thread set up satisfactorily, you will want to upload your Images and Files now.

Images
1st.
find the location you want to put them, and press the Img button
Image

and then a[.Img][/Img] will appear where You clicked.

2nd.
Right click the Image, and click Copy Image URL. now put Your Cursor between the
and right click, and click Copy.
It should look something like this:
[.img](blah%20blah%20image%20link%20here)[/img]
BUT Your image can only be 640 pixels tall by 640 pixels wide.\

Files:

1st.
copy the link to the files, then You can simply paste the files onto a location on Your thread.
i would suggest putting them right above or right below the image of the same mod, example:
Image

2nd.
You will want to put the name of the mod above it so people can see the name first.
I would suggest doing that in a normal sized font, with no colors, because that can get annoying.

STEP SIX

Enjoy Your new Mod Thread :)

I hope this helps all of you new modders :)
Enjoy

For mediafire can you just use the free one or do you have to pay for it?
