A Modding Guide
Version .5(Still editing!)

Greetings spader! Welcome to the basics of modding! You've seen all there awesome guns and decided you want to make some of your own. But you don't know anything about slab6, mediafire or anything else about modding. No worries, the guide is here to help you beginning your modding hobby.

Step 1: Getting the Materials
The materials you need for modding are:
A Decent PC: Modding does not happen on your grandmother's pc.

Slab6: Google Ken Silverman and find his website. As you scroll down, you'll come across a program called Slab6. Download it. Then, browse the file and click one of the blank website icons. It will tell you to extract all files, which you do. After this, do not touch anything(we don't want you to re-download do we?).

GIMP or A Similar Program: Such programs are really confusing, so refer to the GIMP section.

Mediafire or A Similar Program: Well you need somewhere to put your downloads online, don't you?

Imgur or A Similar Program: Here's the biggest problem with newbie modders: They never post PICTURES. If you ever expect to get any acknowledgement for your mods, you must include pictures. To do this, you need an image hosting website.


Step 2: Editing .kvg's
I. With your materials on you computer, open your Ace of Spades folder. Go to the kvg's section.
II. Make a new folder. Name it "Mods" or something of this nature. It just has to stand out.
III. Select the kv6 you want to edit:

Guns
- semi.kv6: I would recommend this kvg if you like to make assault rifles or sniper rifles.
- smg.kv6: This kvg is usually the starting kvg for small weapons, like SMG's or pistols
- shotgun.kvg: This kvg has qualities of both the semi and smg kv6's.
Player Skin
- The player skin is in seven different categories, each named for their corresponding part in-game. The c in player torsoc.kv6 indicates how the player will look crouched.
Graphics:
-Bullet Casings: These little kv6's are what come out of the side of the gun when shooting. Modding them is your choice, but they are an annoying bright yellow default.
-Tracers: What you're gun shoots out. Don't mod these unless you're gun is supposed to shoot out a rocket or laser.
Other:
- Cp: The command post in-game. You'll be able to mod how it looks, but not which block you can get the supplies.
- Spade: Your spade in-game.
- Grenade: Your nade.
- Intel: You should note that the intel also appears on peoples back, so try not to make the intel too weird.

IV: This is extremely important yet simple. Your computer does not recognize which program to use to open the .kv6 so you need to guide it. Right click the .kv6 and click Open With... then click the Browse Files button. Select the slab6 program, which is in your slab6 folder. But before clicking ok, make sure you click the check that says ALWAYS USE THIS PROGRAM FOR THESE TYPES OF FILES.

V. You're set to mod!

A Helpful Guide for your First Kv6

Slab6 Controls:
- Left Click: Controls the camera.
- Up and Down Arrow Keys(W and S): Zooms the camera in and out.
- Left and Right Arrow Keys(A and D): Rotates your model.
- Insert: This inserts a block into your current model. The most basic effect.
- Delete: This deletes a block from the model
- Home and End: DO NOT TOUCH these until you have some experiences in slab6. The home button adds an entire sphere of blocks which is guaranteed to ruin the insides of any gun. End has a slightly better purpose, and deletes a sphere of blocks.
-The Numpad: Controls the shading of slab6. Note that his does not effect how the gun looks in any way.
- T: This activates the nicer blocks effect. While this might make it look good in slab6, it does not change in-game looks.
- R: This is the third most useful control in slab6. This button turns rendering on and off. If you don't understand rendering, it's basically the shade feature in slab6. For this reason, the rendering in slab6 can make your brightest blocks look black. However, rendering does occur in-game, so keep it on once you save your model.
- Spacebar: The paint button. The right click mouse button controls which color you use. To access the coloring palette, hover your mouse over to the bottom right of your slab6 screen.

I recommend first editing your semi, which is the easiest to mod out of the three guns. Don't try to begin with really hard mods because you will fail miserably. Instead, EDIT. By editing, you learn a lot more about slab6, hopefully enough to begin you first full fledged mod. Remember that real life guns are much easier to duplicate than the images in your creativity. For this reason, begin your player skins last, for they require the most creativity out of all your mods. Always keep this saying in mind:
The first steps in the path of profit are small.



VI. Releasing Your Mods In Public If you would like to keep your mods private, that's all fine and dandy. But if you think you're mods are good enough for the public, you NEED these programs. Lets start with making your downloads publicly available.

Downloading: You can't directly take your mods off your computer and into the internet. As stated in the materials, you will need an online file sharing program. Mediafire fits this purpose well. Free and efficient, all Mediafire asks is the ability to host ads while your mods are being downloaded. If you get the Mediafire Pro, you get a lot more mod space and a bunch more additions for $5 a month.
A. Create an account on Mediafire. They mostly just require your email.
B. Upload your mods onto Mediafire. This step is pretty self-explanatory once you reach it.
C. Create a forum thread in the released mod section.
C1. Choose whether or not you would put your thread in the mod packs or separate parts section.
C2. Follow forum etiquette. This step is extremely important, but you won't have to pay much attention unless you're
a troller.
D. Double click your file in Mediafire. You will go to the download page. Copy and paste the URL on your thread and add pictures, which I will explain later. You're done!

Pretty basic lesson:

1-Select the kv6 model you want to make the sights.
2-Use the tool Double Dimensions. This will allow more detail. Click it again if desired.
3-Do the small details.
4-Centralize it,position it in a way that looks like you are looking down the sights.
5-Take a pic with print screen.No need to paste it at MS Paint.
6-Go to GIMP/Paint.net (I dont know if this works for GIMP,I use Paint.net)
7-Copy paste the pic you took.
7.1-Now,this only works if your sight is simmetrical. Select half of the screen,and delete the other one.
7.2-Proceed with erasing the surroudings of the sight.You can use the "select" tool or simply use the Eraser,do what you want.
7.3-After you already deleted all the background, copy the half you have now. Then invert the image,and paste again the one you got back there.
8-Do some small modifications,like sharpening the front sight or placing a red dot on the center.
9-???

Gunsights are the best first impressions.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.
