2-Scale Sights Tutorial?

Postby SoapToDaChoppa » Wed Jun 20, 2012 6:43 pm

Hey all,

So I've seen a lot of cool sights for custom gun skins that still look voxelish, just like the original gun sights. I hear they're called "2-scale sights" because it's supposed to have double the detail because there are 2x2x2 voxels where one voxel would normall by on the unzoomed skin. Sadly, I don't know how to make one of these. :( Would anybody be interested in making a tutorial on how to make them?

Do you mean double dimensions on Slab6?

What do you mean, like, the Double Dimensions button? Just go to "Tools" and "Double Dimensions". You can do it again, but I recommend you to first work on the x2 model so later you don't have as much work with the x4 model.

We are here because the Universe offers conditions so life can evolve,to the point where(at least one)species,in a small planet around a star lost between millions of galaxies,is able to ask itself:What was my origin? (M. Gleiser)

Yeah I think we're all talking about the same thing with those Double Dimmensions things. XD And then you just add or subtract the voxels that need to be added/subtracted, right?

Guess so, its not as complicated as you're making it.

There's a few thread on how to make an blocky sight. Haven't see any about how to create the base of the sight tho.
Seriuosly, add big details on 2x, add smaller details on 4x.

Just look at a real-life model of the gun you're making as a reference.

Some FPS games (namely, BF3 and CoD) have wiki's that give a detailed look through the sights themselves. That may be helpful if you want it to look really realistic.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.
