Some basic ground-rules for mods (Updated)

Postby mikuli » Wed Jan 18, 2012 7:42 pm

Code: Select all
18:46:47 <@bcoolface> why shouldnt modders profit off their work? that was my
                      whole premise :/
18:46:57 <@bcoolface> unless theyre stealing mods
18:51:37 <@mikuli> bcoolface: so that's a permission to have revenue links?
18:52:45 <@bcoolface> im going to give permission unless they're
stealing/reposting other people's work or spamming
18:52:59 <@bcoolface> which isnt allowed even with free mods

The Man has spoken.

You may post your own content through a revenue-generating link but it is recommended to also have a non-profit (eg. mediafire) link in parallel for the people who don't want to click ads for you.
Do not post other people content through a revenue-generating link (such as adf.ly) even if you don't take credit for it.

Do not post laser-pointer modifications.

Do not post content that is not yours, and claim it as your own.
You may modify someone else's work and post it as long as you give credit for the maker of the original model.
You are allowed to make a pack out of other people's mods if
1) You have the permission to use the mods for such a purpose from the original authors.
2) You list the authors with the pack and give them the credit for the models.

Stealing a mod is a ban-worthy offense.

I like this idea, though there should be a catch. You need to have pictures with the download. Not to mention, if it is stolen there should be an automatic ban. Agreed?

Pfft, gross.
Well, that doesn't stop me from just not downloading them as soon as I see an adf.ly link.

Autoban might be a bit hard, dont you think. They should just take the stolen mod down.

Maybe allow the publishment of further modificated mods, if the original creator gave permission.

what if there is an alt. link?

If there's an alternate link, I see no problem with using them. If the person actually gives me the option, I think in that case I'd be supportive and choose the adf.ly link. I just don't like being forced into them, it's the idea more than anything.

If I wasn't banned from adsense I'd totally do this.

EDIT: Now using adf.ly btw.

Are laser sights allowed if they aren't longer than the gun should be?

So what's this problem with laser sights, if I wanted to create a mod for an M16 (completely original, not a modification of someone else's) is there anything wrong with a lasers sight?

How many mods on a thread do you have to have to keep the thread from being locked/moved?

3 at the very least.

Kiw: The laser attachment should not be longer than the barrel. Otherwise it is considered a wall-hack since you can see lasers through walls.
