The M4 Carbine and M4A1 are the same thing. They are just different names for the same thing. The M4A1/M4 Carbine is apart of the M16/AR15 series of guns made by COLT and ARMALITE, Although ArmaLite makes the Semi-Automatic Version of the M16, called the AR15 series. COLT makes the Fully-Automatic or Three-Round burst Assault rifle called the M16/M4 series. The M16 has a few variants. (M16a1, M16a2, M16a3, M16a4) They also include the M4A1 or M4 Carbine.
