Here's how I do my ironsights:

Enlarge your model with double dimesions two times in Slab6

Make your 'ironsights' as detailed as possible

Take a pic with MW Snap (free download)

Open pic in GIMP, erase background with fuzzy select tool

Open pic in Paint.Net

Open - ummm

Here's mine.
1) shape the iron sights how you'd like it, after increasing the size of it, changing it, and doubling the size again. Change it to your liking.
2) Position your "camera" to how you want the iron sight to be viewed.
3) "Prt Scr" (Print Screen)
4) Open up GIMP, a 800x600 template.
5) Paste the image, use Script-fu's guide to position the dead center at 50% horizontally and vertically.
6) Anchor layer.
7) Add alpha channel and remove the background.
8) Save as .png file.
9) ????
10) PROFIT!!!

You're gonna need GIMP and a screen resolution of 800x600 or higher.
