Honestly, because you do fairly well with "modern day guns", I'd suggest you kinda stick with them. I kinda like your originality in guns as well.

Anyway, back to Winchester M97, codename "Trench Broom", "Trench Sweeper" and here's the Trench version.
With barrel heat shield, rope-thingy, shortened barrel and BAYONET.
