Good Afternoon Folks,

I've stopped by today from the GameBanana.com network of sites to talk about the modding community you've got here. Forum mods: if this isn't an appropriate location for this thread (could not find a really general mapping/skinning section) by all means move this as you see fit.

As some -- or maybe even most of you -- are aware, we provide users with a free way to host their modifications (maps, skins, GUI interfaces etc etc) for free on a system boasting over a 1000 active mirrors at any one time. Ace of Spades has become rather popular on our site in the last few months (in our top 10 actively modded games!) and that has certainly got the administrations attention.

We love that our user created sound library is getting so much use from this modding community and that our skins section is overflowing at times with Ace of Spades submissions any given day; so if there is anything that we can do to further accommodate your work or make hosting your content easier then by all means let us know. We've recently added in quick ways to promote uploaded content on other sites -- such as these forums -- in a quick and easy manner:



So again, if there are things that make using our site difficult or if you've got ideas/requests to improve AoS content in general I'd love to hear it!

We're always looking to fully support any game boasting such a wide range of mods as Ace of Spades has in such short time: just shy of 300 skin submissions as of this posting!

It seems like a pretty good modding site. The only complain I have is that it seems a bit disorganized at first glance, it isn't really intuitive, if you know what I'm talking about, at least for me.

We do plan to give the front page layout some updates in the future, although I can't really be specific about the changes themselves as someone else is handling that. Any suggestions you've got I will of course pass on, the more information I can send him the easier we can make it for modders to upload their work.

Would the counter intuitive feeling come from the site navigation itself? or the terminology used for submission sections? We try to explain these old terms as best we can on the general 'Submit' page. Being an old site we're a bit attached to these old gaming terms heh.

Some of these major sections are not really applicable to AoS so I think I'll play with the current module-based layout and clean things up a bit so it's a little more 'full'

We've done a cleanup of the skin categories. (http://aos.gamebanana.com/skins)

- Capture Point (CP)
- Full packs
- Grenade
- Intel
- Other/Misc
- Rifle (Semi)
- Shotgun
- SMG
- Soldier (Character)
- Spade

Also, we'd love to have some official icons for each of these skin sections. If there are a set of official ones you can direct me to that we can use, that would be wonderful. Or if you want to make some yourself that's more than welcome too!

If there are any missing categories let me know. We'll try and get to the other content sections as well in the coming days. GUI's/Sprites in particular.


I have to say, watching some of the recent submissions come in for AoS is just awe inspiring. I would never have thought someone could make detailed items like this in a voxel game:
