On June 6 1944, at 0048 the first paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division began to leap from their aircraft into German Occupied Normandy to secure areas crucial to the success of Operation Overlord. This map is set in Normandy France and is unique in the aspect that when configured properly, the "US Airborne" team spawns from the doors of multiple C-47 Aircraft and fall to the map below.

The map features a small French village on a hill surrounded by farms and some wooded areas. At the peak of the hill lies a Norman style church, although I would have like to have made it the church from Saint Mere-Eglise, the town which soldiers from the 101st and 82nd captured by 0600, it would been too similar to Infux's existing map Normandie. For this reason the church is just a generic Norman style church. Scattered across the German side of the map are Flak 88 AA gun emplacements, some 105mm artillery (that are aimed towards the beaches where the invasion will take place), and even some Panzer tanks and half tracks. The map also features a railway line and station and the buildings in the village are fantastic for occupying as they provide a great vantage point from which to rain down both automatic and sniper fire. The wooded areas are also useful for flanking the enemy as the trees provide excellent cover.

True, especially if the Capture Points were located in the Flak 88 or 105mm Emplacements. That would work really well, attempting to capture one of those would require real teamwork.

By the way, I'm running the map on two CTF Servers, both named "Ki11aWi11 - CTF", though the 24 slot CTF server will be discontinued (we switched hosting services to a larger VPS allowing us to run 3 servers, the other one is the last months service with the old host, which should expire in the next few days).

Looks totally awesome. Good job. More maps like these.

Though you had to take pictures at the "day" time. Now it's kinda hard to see stuff.

Oh and that plane looks kinda familiar :)

I didn't copy anyone else's models except for the vegetation, I looked at how Influx had done his tree's and made my own with slab6, and even then I added my own tree designs so I wasn't completely relying on him. All the vehicles and houses and even the church I created by simply going off Google Images of the actual subject.

Nice map. Only problem is that I cant spawn in the air whit the parachute.

I changed the fall damage to false. I put the VXL file in the map folder whit the spawn file. Just like what is told in the readme file.

The problem is I dont understand the marked red text. Could you eloborate on that please.

" To choose the parachute spawn configuration, simply copy the "d day 0048.vxl" and "d day 0048 parachute spawns.txt" to the maps folder and then rename the text file "d day 0048.txt"

Thanks.

Okay, the text file has to have the exact same name as the Voxel file for the two to work together so for example if I had a map called Castle.vxl and I wanted to use custom config and spawning with it then I would have to name the text file with these spawns Castle.txt, so to use the parachute spawns you must rename the parachute spawns text file to the same name as the Voxel file.
