Tower Of Babel Map Idea

Uh, now that Pyspades can make the intels appear where-ever-the-hell you want them to, how about a map like this:

Low, flat map with a small (like 5x5) platform made of god-blocks in the sky. BOTH intels spawn up there, and the teams have to build a giant tower to reach it. Since the platform is so small, BOTH teams have to build in the same spot. Naturally the tower will be a structure you'd want to defend, so you'd build an ever-growing cancer-like fortress in order to reach the intel.

It'd be called the Tower Of Babel map, because well, that's what the Tower of Babel was in the Bible.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get an indestructible platform like that without turning off block destruction completely?

Yes you can, but you have to import the floating blocks with Voxed, and if you destroy anything attached to the floating block, it all falls.

Another suggestion would be to make the server User Blocks only, so that only player placed blocks would be breakable.

I did it in Qubicle the other day, but I'd need to set up a map script and hg pull the newest pyspades again which I'm too lazy to do.

I was thinking more about it... It seems like there might have to be a 1x1 tower connecting the platform to the ground, because if you place a block on a floating god-block object, then remove the block, the whole object realizes it's floating and falls. And you have to be able to place blocks in that grid, otherwise you can't build the tower :p

If you make floating objects big enough it works. Like in this map: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEqF5krXadY It's completely 100% floating.

I figured that you could make the 3x3x3 area around it protected from building and griefing. But also, it doesn't matter: they got to intel anyway.

This is a pretty cool idea. Also god blocks are still collapsible if some non-god blocks are hooked onto it and then those are destroyed.

@ Danke: Can you set small areas to be unbuildable like that? Because then you could still have a small (5x5) free-floating platform, and people could just jump onto it from whatever tower they made.

I think a small platform would be preferred, to force building under a single point :)
