Blood Gulch Map Request

Postby XFrostByteX » Fri Jul 27, 2012 2:59 am

Someone requested a Mos Eisley map

Which got me to thinking

Why isn't there a Blood Gulch map

So, is it possible to try and build a blood gulch map? It seems just perfect for AoS, even without Vehicles.

There actually is a bloodgulch model file that's out there from Halo 1. However the only problem is that it's all 1 block thick when converted using Poly2Vox. I've been trying to think of a way to fill in the sides, but i've had no luck. Here's a pic of it after the conversion in Qubicle (mind you its a bit small because of the converter's limitations)

It looks good, and I suppose we just remove digging/block damage & placement.

But that isn't as fun :P I'll see what i can do. I have a theory that could work, but haven't had the time to test it.

I have a Height map and texture, and now I'm just adding detail, etc.

Convert to a Height map then use the converter. It fills in the sides automatically, but it would also fill in the bases too

How would you convert a model file to a height map?

If it gets filled in, could you just carve out the base again?

Might take some time, but better than filling in all those hills

You can convert a .vxl to a height map using the Pyspades map editor. But I think there is a way to convert the model file to a height map since my height map is based upon a height map possibly made from a model file. I'm off to *Tootle* Google now

(why no strikethrough!?)
