Ping fluctuates wildly; game unplayable

I am having trouble with my ping ratings. Every match starts off well and usually my pings begin the match at under 100 ms. Normally within 2 minutes of match start, my ping skyrockets. I have started a match with a ping of 76ms and quit early with a ping of 5000ms. Needless to say, this causes extreme lag and totally ruins the game for me. This happens very frequently--nearly every game.

In years past, I have had no trouble playing on Xbox Live with this same internet connection, although I have not played on my Xbox recently. I do not play any other computer games besides AoS.

I went to Speedtest.net and got these results:

Ping:31ms
Down Speed: 1.30Mbps
Up Speed: 0.27Mbp

Is there something I can possibly do to boost ping and actually play the game?
