Nvidia Optimus thinks AoS is Starcraft

Postby subparserenity » Mon Aug 06, 2012 1:22 am

...because it's named "client.exe". It auto-detects it as Starcraft, so the Nvidia GPU is forced on. I can't change it, so basically I'm eating way more battery power than I should be.

Renaming it to like, "hurrdurr.exe" fixes the auto-detect problem, but what happens there is that I can't connect to any servers with a renamed client...soooooo...

Any way to fix this?

Well you'd have to change the protocol associations for "aos://".

Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc
Hit "New Task"
Type cmd and hit enter.
In the new black window that comes up, type "cd C:\Your\Path\To\AOS\"
Type renamedclient.exe -connect <ip address>
Replace the things that need replacing, like ip address and path.

Well that's pretty unnecessary. http://aos.minit.nu/aos.reg
Download it, edit it in a text editor, and change "client.exe" to your new client name, then change the bottom line to match your Ace of Spades path if you changed it. Be careful about messing up the format though. When you're finished, save it as a .reg file and run it as admin.
