Unable to turn around

Postby DarkDXZ » Thu Jan 26, 2012 6:49 pm

So right now, I tried to play on a server (had trouble with that since all "good" servers are gone) and I when I spawned, I wasn't able to turn my character around completely. Sure, the "animation" played but nothing happened. Everyhting was playing normally, I was able to move, fire, scope, but no moving my camera. Nothing. And due to that, I was simply unable to play the game...

I have also run into this issue. For me it happens when running AOS 0.75 under Wine 1.3.4 on Ubuntu 10.04 with "windowed = 0" in config.ini. With "windowed = 1" I can turn around normally.

The bug occurs on 0.75, but did not occur under 0.58 (the last version I'd played before 0.75). It does not occur on our XP machine under 0.75.

If the OP is still around, it would be useful to know if they were running on Wine as well (if so, this may well be a Wine bug, and not an issue with AOS at all).

With "mouse_sensitivity=5.0" I can only rotate about 90 degrees left or right from the orientation I spawned in. Increasing mouse sensitivity to 10 allows me to rotate about 180 degrees left or right (so I can face in any direction), but going from 179 degrees left to 179 degrees right requires a 358 degree rotation to the right, instead of a 2 degree rotation to the left.

As soon as I hit the rotation limit, the mouse pointer is visible at the edge of the screen corresponding to the direction I was turning, instead of being hidden as it is normally.

My diagnosis:

For some reason (possibly a bug in Wine, rather than AOS, pending the OP giving more information on their system, or a report of this happening on Windows) the mouse does not seem to be getting captured properly in fullscreen mode, and the OS is stopping mouse movement when the mouse hits the edge of the screen.
