I have a 2560x1440 screen. I was so happy with my monitor until I learned AoS refuses to meet me even half way with the resolution.
A) I can play full screen and deal with scaling, alignment (part of the image is off the screen) and distortion issues, or
B) I play as I do now, max res (1280x960) windows, a little 9 inch screen.
when i has a Sega Dreamcast (the only console I ever owned) I though playing on a 13" was bad...
I think the resolution limitation is to prevent people from having an unfair advantage- people with larger screens would see more than ppl with small screens, but in my case the windowed size is so small I'm at a significant disadvantage. My table isn't big enough for another monitor and I kinda wiped my savings account with this 30" monster...
from past experience, especially with the limited graphics capabilities of laptops, there's alot of display resolutions that's not supposed by your computer, if you force a resolution that's not supported you'll get an error or a blank screen.
So be glad you have 800x600. at least you can see...
