Hints & Tips & Tricks: aloha R1CTF 24/7 hallway

~~~~~~~~~~~Hints & Tips & Tricks: aloha R1CTF 24/7 hallway~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is where I give tips and tricks on AoS. I try to improve the gameplay of others with information that will help them. Listening to these hints, tips, and tricks will put you on the top!
Keep in mind this doesn't go for all servers. This is especially for aloha R1CTF 24/7 hallway. This may not be the same for other servers, maps, and game modes.
~~~~Before Playing~~~~

- Make sure there are a good amount of players (22-26 Minimum)

- Make sure you are using the mods you want (Check back for hints, tips, and tricks on that)

- Try to ignore anything that can take away from the game (Anything that causes lag, chat rooms, ect)

These are optional and very recommended. These will just improve gameplay. This is more common sense than anything

~~~~Getting Started~~~~
- Join the game and choose a team (Pick the team depending on how you decide. Players, winners/losers, ect)
- Decide on a weapon (The recommended weapon is the shotgun. Scroll down for reasons)
- After choosing both those options check the stats (Score, map, ect)
These aren't as important as everything else I'm about to tell you, but keep some of this in mind.
~~~~Playing Offense~~~~

- Get the intel

- Make sure to have a decent amount of health and ammo (Atleast 68hp and more than half the amount of ammo)

- Find a safe route to the enemies cp/tent (Many turns, side on intel, underground, and unoccupied)

- Look for enemies on every turn and expect them there at all times

- Sound whore (Listen in on what is going on around you. Gun shots, walking, breaking blocks, reloading, and death)

- Enter the enemies base unseen and quiet (Don't grab attention)

- Victory dance and capture the intel!

~~~~Playing Defensive ~~~~
~~Intel~~
- Always stay quiet
- Have a good position and try not being too obvious
- Use shotgun to take down close enemies
~~Cp/Tent~~
- Make sure it is very hard to get to
- Towers should be 8x4 depending on how you build them
~~~~More Information~~~~

Image

The green circle shows allies cp/tent. That's where the enemies capture your intel. The orange circle shows you in your direction. As you see you are a bright blue compared to everyone else. The yellow circle shows both your allies and enemies intel. It's up for grabs by anyone on either team. The red circle shows the enemies cp/tent where you capture the intel. Those are the important parts of this game mode.

Image

(If anyone could edit the picture and make it smaller without the white line I would be very much appreciated!)

That picture shows the difference between an objective based player and someone there for points. My ratio and streak were terrible with a streak maximum of four and a 0.45 ratio( The ratio from being afk). Even though their team may have good players, it doesn't mean they are going to help you win. Blue was winning 1-3 as green had 0-3. To play R1CTF you need to play the objective.

~~My Weapon Stats~~

These are based off the default guns.

[#1}Shotgun - The shotgun is my top recommendation for this server. It's really good for close corner situation in the tunnels and at base. You don't want to worry about getting that lucky heads hot with the rifle or that combo with the smg. With the shotgun you have a decent range for a one shot kill and is effective up close. It makes bringing the intel to the enemies base and playing the objective so much easier. The only downside is it is harder to shoot down enemies from a distance, especially when they have the intel.

[#2]Smg - The smg is second as the semi. Reason be both are not so good, but very similar. The smg can fire at a long distance and can do damage. The reason why it is second is because of how hard it can be to accomplish anything with. By the time an enemy sees you your prey. It also isn't very useful in tunnels. Your reaction time wont be fast enough to get the kill and walk away alive.

[#2]Semi - The semi is second just like the smg. Reason be is because it is terrible up close. You wont always get the fast kill as you would with the shotgun. When you have a two to three second shot difference it can be a pain up close. Though this isn't a great weapon it can be useful. It's great for taking down people camping tent, running through tunnels, and people in the fog. These are of which why it is tied with the smg.

As I said before these vary. Expect a "Mods" hints, tips, and tricks explaining what is good and bad to get a perfect result.

~~~~Server Information~~~~
The server is aloha R1CTF 24/7 hallway once again. Find it here at http://www.ace-spades.com/play/ .
Izzy - Izzy is the one who owns all aloha servers. He also made the map played with this game mode, hallway. You can find him at the #AoS or the #Aloha IRC. Just leave a message and he should be able to come to your call. Go to http://aloha.pk/ for anything regarding the servers.
Yourself - Yourself was the one who created the R1CTF game mode. He has made others along with that and even some very great maps. You can also find him at the #AoS IRC and or the Aos forums. If you have any questions, problems, or ect regarding the game mode contact him!
I hope this was helpful. It would be nice to see alot more people playing and or even hosting R1CTF.
Expect more. For tomorrow I should have one on Mods and or some other servers!
I would love to feedback on this as it is my first "Hints & Tips & Tricks". If you have videos or examples of you using what I said I would love to see them and or even post them in the thread! If you have any request for game modes, scripts, mods, maps, and more contact me. You can find me here, on this forums, the #AoS IRC, or on my email at [email protected].
Enjoy :)
Shotty's obviously best for tunneling, but imo rifle's optimal for rushing the gap.
Sounds like a good map guide.
Maybe add, what you shouldnt be doin at all on this map. (Still should be map specific. Running around without cover obviously is a dumb idea for the most part.)
For sneak people-dudes:
1. If your trying to be sneaky from the noise pint of view mash your left and right buttons rapidly and it will not make any noise even if you are running (probably because it resets the sound every time you press the button).
2. crouching is not always good especially if your in a close combat because it makes your head easier to hit and slows you sown a bunch.
For shotty dude-men:
If you happen to be fairly away from your enemy, be sure to shoot close to where he is' but not directly at him' because of the spread.
For close combat manly-dudes:
be sure to shoot where your enemy is going to be and not where he is now (kinda like space invaders but with a shotgun).
For grenade dude-pals:
1.Always cook your grenades for a bit' or else your enemy will be able to escape the explosion (just hold the mouse for a bit).
2. If there are more then 1 enemy near you be sure to throw more then one grenade in different angles (one further, one in the middle and one closer, not to far from each other). this will assure no escape for your enemies (while doing more damage to them and having a bigger explosion radius.
3. Completely covering a grenade with blocks will result in it not harming anyone.
4. If you cook a grenade to much it will explode in your hand instantly killing you (It does not do any damage to the enemy but damages blocks.
For builder men-guy-dudes:
1.When you destroy blocks with the (pick that never ever existed because there always were and always will be only a spade) one block a time mode, you will gain the number of blocks you have destroyed.
2. When building a wall in the battlefield, be sure to build a block ahead of you while crouching to insure you will not get killed while building (grants cover to you).
For block destroying mate-pals: Be sure to hide behind what you are destroying, and always use the three blocks a time mode.
For griefer man-asses:
1. Feel free to go drown yourself (real life).
For everyone dude-pals-mates-guys-dudes:
Be communist, and work together. Organizing a swarm in the middle of the battlefield will brake your enemies defenses easily (works for intel rushes to).
2. If you hear digging noises under or up to you, be sure to look in that direction and if your directly down or up from them you will be able to see them through blocks (really).
3. Be sure to shoot down any blocks your enemies are hiding behind, (it will be a surprise kill).
thanks for writing this up, it's a good general play guide.
i'd like to see more tips specific to hallway, such as:
  • it's important to build forts at your spawn because the enemy often camps inside or on top of the mountain that overlooks it.
  • there are three main routes you can take to get to the enemy's spawn; 1) directly through the pre-made center hallway, 2) dig through the mountain at ground level, 3) build staircases alongside the mountain starting from your spawn and ending at the top of the mountain. #1 is quickest but most open to enemy fire (good for quick action). #2 is generally safer but slower than #1. #3 is often the best bet because you can start new tunnels at different levels and the height gives you a strategic advantage over those below you.
  • hollowing out rooms inside and at the edge of the mountain near high-traffic areas such as the spawns or hallway makes for great camping spots.
That sounds great. I'll try to stuff it in there sometime tomorrow ;)
IMO:
1, don't rush down the hall. doesn't anyone know anything? that's an excellent way to get sniped from above. and from the front. and just about every other direction. you got no cover!
2, shotguns are stupid. the map is very large. its not like you can avoid being out in the open entirely all the way from end to end. there's huge blank open spaces, you won't be able to defend yourself in open areas. which is everywhere.
3, since the map features huge open spaces learn to shoot the rifle well (probably on another less-full server) able to shoot really far and snipe the enemy is very useful on this map. you can see the enemy better if you turn up the contrast on your monitor way, way, way up.
the rest are my secrets to success that i don't feel like sharing (mostly because it'll make the game ridiculously hard if everyone knew and would ruin the game play).
