I might never play AoS again.

For all things AoS!

I might never play AoS again.

Postby tunaspirit » Sun Feb 19, 2012 9:44 pm

So at a saturday my parents are off shopping, and I thought it was fun to play goon haven for 6 hours straight.
Once they found out, they limited me playing games to 1 hour every day, and my dad fucked up everything up by Parental Controls (password if you'd like to install something) and deleted Ace Of Spades, and countless other games of mine.

Some games I knew didn't require passwords (Gang Garrison 2, TF2, All Half-Life 1 and co. (i managed to torrent that))
I felt like installing FL Studio and Visual Basic Studio to learn program, but password. Now my dad URL Filtered any games he found on my history, (AoS, CoD, BF, even akinator!) although I login in the router and disable the filter everyday or use proxies.
They took out my TV and xbox from my room, so I just steal my Bro's DS and play Dragon Quest IX.
They just bought GTA San Andreas while I was a kid, So i'm wondering why they are giving me this "don't play violent games" saying just now. My Mom also went to this convention where they said that Minecraft is very addicting, although I haven't played it in 2 months.
This is my life now. Unless you know how to crack the Parental Controls password for Vista, just say something else.

all you have to do is give a hand for the next week or two, then ask nicey if you can have your games back.
cant you just use safe mode to go round the pass words?
and i bet you can DL AoS at a mates on to a USB stick then copy it to your PC.

Me: Can I have the Xbox back if I act nice for 2 weeks?
Mom: NO
I forgot about copying to a USB though, thanks for that!

What are your grades?
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

I used to have controls like this on my computer. Sometimes you can circumvent the installing restrictions by installing games to the desktop depending on the situation. Sucks man...

Yeah just run it off a USB stick, if you want to get real advanced then be sure to use an encrypted tunnel to hide the data from the router. That shouldn't matter though, since each server has a different IP so it's not like he could just block them all.

Though remember, if you get too wild going around the blocks, he may take the whole PC from you.. that has happened to me many times :L

Oh yeah, this problem huh.

Well the issue isn't with firefox, it is actually a setting in your registry. I wouldn't recomend changing it manually, but if you want to then search "Steam" in the suggestions forum and you will get a thread with me and another guy talking about how to add it in to Steam, you have to modify the same registry keys to make it work.

This will help you though; it is a script to launch servers, but you need to right click on them in the browser and copy the address which may be a pain. Well, you could also have a look at some of the server browsers but not sure how they launch AoS...

1. Download
2. Extract
3. Open up config.ini and set the variables;
- waittime is the time to wait before reconnect is tried, in seconds
- installdir is where you installed Ace of Spades to (C:\Ace of Spades\ is default by I installed to D:\Ace of Spades\)
- defaultserver is the address of your favourite server (you can right click the links on http://www.ace-spades.com/play/ and click copy URL, by default it is set to LDR - Main!)
4. Run AoSLauncher.exe
5. Hover over the icon in your tray to see the controls;
- Windows + Z opens up the quick server address box, so you can quickly write in a new address
- Windows + X starts trying to connect to the server. You will notice the tray icon change, a yellow light means it is doing something other than connecting, yellow light off means its doing nothing, green light on means it is trying to connect, green light off means it is waiting for connection, and when it has the red pie (you will know what I mean when you see it) then it is waiting for "waittime".
- Windows + C cancels the command, so it will stop trying to connect
6. Change the server with Win+Z, or just hit Win+X and go straight to trying to connect!!!

This one will work because it doesn't use any association, you just edit the config file. Also it doesn't require install etc, it was made to help portables and to get in to full servers.

Lol, I just have an agreement of doing all my homework till, 6 and then only am I allowed to be "obsessed" with my computer.
My parents really don't care about what games am I playing, because my computer can't really run anything but AOS, cavestory, dwarf fortress and games from <2005, so yep, I've actually degraded to playing minesweeper from time to time.
That's my life as a gamer -_-
Hell, my computer still runs porn, so who the hell cares.

Your parents will probably give you all your stuff back if you keep your mouth shut and listen to whatever they say.

Basically, they "trusted" you to be responsible and not play on the computer for too long, but you kinda destroyed the expectations they had for you. Now it will take a while to regain their "trust".

Improve your grades, don't be a smartass, and they'll probably get over this extremely quickly. Start trying to use proxies to avoid their punishment, then you are pretty much screwed.

I just disable the URL Filter entirely.
I only use proxies if I want to access TPB.
