Ace Lagging on good computer

Postby S1kBruZZ » Mon Sep 24, 2012 6:15 pm

Hey, So I started ace lately and my friend asked me how much fps I get, I opened up fraps and It was around 5, once it was 11, for a second then back down to 5 fps. He then said my computer was crap so I gave him the specs and he said its better than his and he doesn't know why I'm getting low fps. So I thought I would come here for your help.
Here are my specs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CDt ... Oko0U/edit
I don't know if all of it was necessaries but there they are. Any suggestions on what to do?

i think AoS is CPU-dependent. if your CPU is crummy it refuses to run well. all my other games a are GPU-dependent.
I'm having this issue now, because I've tinkered with my computer's power options to reduce electrical use and while the change has gone over well for everything else, my AoS FPS dropped from 50 to 8. solely because I limited CPU activity to 25%. which would be either 2 cpu running 100% or 8 cpu each limited to 25%. it seems AoS is single core/CPU also, which suggests the 8 cpu/25% limitation. it seems the fps is directly dependent on CPU, my GPU has pretty much no load (it's like 4%) when AoS is running.

you can check power options, see if cpu max state is 100% or not. everything else on your computer is excellent and shouldn't cause any issues.

Slow Internet, perhaps? Really, it's almost always your Internet. It doesn't matter how super your computer is, that won't increase your Internet speed. Try checking that.

I didn't think internet affected your fps.
But the Internet isn't the problem anyway, I had a few games on my brothers laptop which is crappy, and it had around 30fps, Both connected to the same internet. I'll just steal his laptop when I want to play.

Good idea. :P Not really. I think it's either your Internet or your brother is playing heavy games at the same time as you're playing AoS. :) How fast is your Internet?

It's not his internet. He could be living right beside me for all I care, his brother asleep, with his own laptop, and I could be running a server at the time. It's most likely his GPU.

CPU. Ace of Spades does not support use of the GPU.
