Something needs to be done about the aimbotting.

For all things AoS!

Something needs to be done about the aimbotting.

Postby thedj437 » Sat Jul 28, 2012 10:42 pm

It has gotten to a point where people openly admit it, and in some cases, they even share the links for the aimbot over chat! It is difficult to find a server without hackers. This is the best free shooter I have ever played, I just hate seeing it go to garbage like this.

It and the community went to garbage long ago. Only thing left to do is stay off pub servers as much as possible.

Ya I agree.

The issue has been driven into the ground.

The developers seem so disinterested.

The old timers have beaten that drum for so long, that they have become apathetic. Most wont reply anymore. And then a good number of those who will speak on the issue, want you to believe its because your a noob (ie your imagination). Or giving some pathetic justifications. to do it.

Its sad really. this is a game with real potential, being slowly flushed down the internet toilet.

The global banlist keeps on growing, so something is actually being done. I just leave a server if it seems* obvious that aimbotting is a problem.

*and let's face it, some players are really good at getting headshots without cheating whether we like it or not**.

Seriously, hackers are in every game. Look at combat arms for example.

There is little we can do, except ban them. And re-write the engine every single update.

Ip banning is only a small piece of the war. IP can be spoofed with proxy. Not very effective solution.

I believed this more when I could actually get headshots with the rifle. Multiple 1 shot 1 bullet kills with the smg, I am having a problem buying. I will say I get better kills with the smg, these days. Don't really even need to aim.

See apathetic. That means giving up, no hope. Resolved to roll over and take what ever is coming

The entire engine does not need to be rewritten. But if it where designed to have enough flexibility to be tweaked with secret updates every couple of weeks. That should be enough to thwart all but the most persistent scripters.

Unfortunately according to the real hackers. AOS has zero protections. It is super easy to hack. Considered a good learning or practice application. Hence my claim that the developers appear uninterested.

No it doesn't. That is a fact. There is no mildly popular game with no hack. We can't stop people hacking, but we should try to destroy the problem as much as we can, but it is impossible to completely destroy it. Want to play a game with absolutely no hackers? Create a game yourself and do not share it with anyone. Problem solved.

Aimbotters are in almost EVERY server. I hate it, more worse than other hacks, and commonly used. There's a server that has more than 5+ aimbotters kicked. The server name is "Rot III - pancakes with a vegeance". a pinpoint server.
I agree with some of you, but anyone aimbot here?

Aimbots maybe are on age 12 or less, cause teh lack of skill they got.

Also aimbots are Peopel WHO have no skill, bad aim and they are mad. just saying

If anyone's "on age 12 or less" I figure it's probably you.

Also, those RoT servers tend to be absolute garbage. Little to no moderation and way too many horribad maps. Which really bites, they're the only ones I can play lag free.

True, but I am nearly 13, but still 12.5. Pinpoint is a good map to me, but keep your opinion next time. :I

If they suck so badly, then try using that fancy /admin command and tell me about it. I'm pretty much always on, as are some of the other admins. We'd be glad to help.

Regarding the maps, I have to agree, they're just out-of-the-box pyspades installations. Feel free to leave some opinions on how to improve them here.

The only real hack on here is aimbotting. You can just download it, and run the program and there you go, you are hacking. Any other hack, while possible, is harder and not on the internet anywhere. So you get the idiot kids that aimbot, and then you get the real hackers, the ones that spend time hacking health ect.

aim boting is very popular to the point that when i get a number of kills not necessarily headshots there is usely one guy who wants me out and it pisses me the duck off that a guy who just got lucky leaves out of fear for getting banned when you call a kick for a guy on your team all your teammates vote against it becuse it helps them win

whoa there! :)

I agree with you mostly. And I understand the sarcasm at the end of your statement. But...

Definition of APATHETIC (per merriam-webster.com)

: having or showing little or no feeling or emotion

I suggest that the statement. "There is little we can do about it, because every game is hacked." Is an apathetic attitude.

Yes there is little we can do as users other then ban or vote kick in game. And as server operators create, and use anti hack scripts. As well as heavy hitting, trustworthy administration.

I suggest the developers can do a lot more. At the very least try some thing.

Our part as players and potential customers is to remind the developers. That this issue is important enough to be addressed at the top of this forum everyday.

This is the strongest way, we the users can make it clear. We the customers are watching and waiting for results.
And yes I understand it is a free game. I like it. I want to buy it. But I can not put money on a game or company that does not even try to produce a trustworthy product.

I am not asking for, or demanding a cure to the problem. I would be happy with knowing that the powers that be are honestly making some kind of effort, to combat the issue.

Hell correct me if I am wrong but do they ,or have they ever, publicly addressed the aimbot/hack issue? I would love to read a link. Maybe it could slow my own slide into apathy.
