Hi Guys and welcome to the #1 issue of Server Inside in which we will cover a list of many servers and talk about them. I came up with the idea after wanting to write reviews on many servers and it came to my mind to link them up like the Ace of Spades newsletter. Each issue will be every two weeks.
Issue #1
[Gen Wars, Minit Assault]
Hello guys and welcome to Server Inside in which we will be reviewing many servers and giving constructive criticism and ratings.
So lately i have been hanging around a couple of servers and i wanted to review these since there are many things you can talk about them.
Gen Wars:
Gen Wars is a server hosted by PXYC.
Basically Gen Wars is a server which runs the old "Classic Gen" map. The Classic Gen map is the very first map which was used to host many servers. But since over the new updates custom maps have been replacing Classic Gen maps like Gen Wars. Gen Wars runs Territorial Control which is a gamemode. The aim of the game is to to capture a Command Post, the 'capture bar' must be fully filled with your team's colour. Once it is captured, the flag on the top of it becomes that of your team. Capturing is based on majorities, so one player from each team standing over the same post will move the bar nowhere. However, two players from one team and one from the other will begin to alter the capture bar in their favour. Of course, for the opposing team, the way to solve the majority is to kill one of the opposing team members. Unless the bar is already fully one team's colour, having a majority over a post will cause it to move the capture bar's distribution. This also means that a single player can capture an opposing post completely, but if the player dies, it would be easy for the opposition to regain control. Scoring is done via how many posts you control, and your current amount is shown on the tab scoreboard by the numbers at the top (e.g. 2-4, which shows you control two out of a possible four posts). If all of the posts on the map bear the flag of one colour, that team wins, and the command posts are reset to different positions and the game begins again.
Moving onto the review of this server. This server is very nail-bitting and provides really intense gameplay. This can vary to spawning behind enemy lines, working as a team and infiltrating them and so on.
Overall PXYC has done a great job for making this server and maintaining it so it is hacker free. Well done! The server is excellent for some vanilla gameplay and is perfect for people who like slow paced matches.
Ratings:
Hacker Free - 8/10 - Sometimes the odd few join the server.
Gameplay - 9/10 - Provides Nail Bitting gameplay.
Maintaining - 9/10 - He has done a good job with maintaining this server and also has a excellent config.txt set-up.
Overall - 9/10
Minit Assault:
Minit Assault is a serve hosted by Enari who also host many other Minit servers which are truly amazing.
Basically this server is a new version of Goon Haven which was closed a while back (Link Here). Anyway it runs the map "Goon Assault" and runs the gamemode TDM (Team Death Match). The objective of the game is to basically shoot the opponent and try and cap the intel so that one you get to 1000 kills (First Team to) they win the game.
Moving onto the review, Minit Assault provides a excellent server with excellent gameplay and makes it ideal for experienced players to hang around on.
Overall it was nice for Enari to replace the old Goon Haven server and let all the fans enjoy themselves again.
Ratings:
Hacker Free - 10/10 - No hackers what so ever since there are plenty of admins.
Gameplay - 10/10 - Produces excellent gameplay with other experienced players.
Maintaining - 10/10 - Enari maintains his servers excellently with no-lag and listens to players. Also is run by a nice bunch of people.
Overall - 8/10 #This was because people said that it needed tunneling and etc.
