Team mate revival

Postby danhezee » Sun Jan 22, 2012 11:31 pm

You have the chance to revive your fallen team mates before their respawn timer expires. They also have the chance to decline the revival, just in case they want to respawn back at base.

What do you guys think?

Ace and I talked about this awhile ago and we said it'd be pretty cool to have.

But you'd have to drag them somewhere safe to be revived,

Yes that would be excellent but in squads it could be really cheap.

I do and don't like this idea. It would be cool for you or a team mate to revive someone back to half health. Though, you should explain this a little more. Does the person who killed them still get the kill? Do they revive with exact same hp/ammo? How long will it take?

It seems decent, but rough around the edges. You need more detail than that, because we have no idea exactly what you are talking about. Does it take 8 seconds to revive them? Will they respawn with full health?

The specifics haven't been worked out, your thoughts on the details are welcome.

I've never be a big fan of squads and the squads respawn hack. With revival you no longer have to be assigned a squad, you just fight along someone because you want too. Also, there wont be any squad respawn points, you either revive them or the respawn at base.

Errr, do you get some ammo back, if any at all? If not it seems like itd almost be a downside getting revived a majority of the time.

How I think this should work:

-3/4 Second Revival: 25hp
-5/6 Second Revival: 75hp
-Two Reviving Teammates: 100hp
-To Revive: Minimum 50hp/25hp
-Bonus: Reviving Gives 15hp To Reviver

What happens:

-Bar: 1/8 Seconds
-Gray Bar: 1/24hp
-Healed Becomes Invincible: 2 Seconds
-Healed Becomes "Idle": Can't Injure

So far that is what I have. I think it's fair enough. Questions, feedback?

Why would the healer and revived become invincible? That seems sort of backwards.

I would rather be able to heal people than revive them.
That said, I definitely am not against this.. I say at least test it for a build, if it breaks the game or makes things cheap, it can always be removed.. :)

It would have to take time, long enough for the healer to get killed. But then again, it would result in alot of "Y U NO REVIVE ME? I WAS DEAD BEHIND YOU! WTF BLAAARG HSDALGFLLAHGOLKAJFJHALH."

I have very positive experience from W:ET and its reviving system.
It greatly increase aspect of "winning the fight as a team" (so i.e. pushing enemies out of cover by entering it, rather than by just waiting for them to pop out their heads), so territory control over rambo killing. In some way it will work as nerf to current almighty semi, because it's OHK ability will be somehow reduced, and importance of cover (for your waiting body) will be more important.
On the other hand it decrease fear of dying we have now - because if you're in cover, noone can finish you off, and hidden medic can resurrect you constantly.
It was abused really rarely, and only because it was instant (stab with syringe-done).

Things I'd do in the same way:
-noone is invincible: healer can be killed, wounded can be finished off. (build cover if you want to help someone in open space, and pray they won't tear it down with SMG before you finish healing)
-only medic can do this (it goes to discussion if we should have specialized classes)
-further healing should use normal healing rules (again - discussion if there should be any healing)
Things I'd change:
-healing take time: like 5 seconds to revive to 50%
-we don't have leveling (thanks goat), so no upgraded (100% heal) syringe.
