The new rifle is fine.

Who charges into the fray with a rifle anyway. Even by accident. You can AVOID it.

Well what it means now is that the rifle is now a lon range weapon and not medium range.

I do. I used to, back in .70, switch between sniper and assault roles whenever needed. Those were good times ...

I dont know if you guys noticed, but the spade's range is completely awful. You have to be as close as possible to hit them.

I guess thats what we get for complaining its too big.

First Impressions

Postby SICKfudge » Sun Jul 08, 2012 6:47 pm

I like the new update as a whole, I have'nt tried out the new smg yet but the shotgun and the rifle are both nicer, the less neon colours look better and other stuff.
Things i dont like:
damage falloff (its barley noticable, but still, i would prefer sway instead.)
the font for the grid number above the map, IMO it just dosent look good
and FILE ---> QUIT in the launcher does not work!

Funny thing, while adding arms are not mentioned in the changelog, you can see them when using the first person view as a spectator.

I'd like to see a faster semi. Its fire rate is too easily taken advantage of my both other weapons, especially the SMG. Personally, I cannot shoot with the confidence that I could last update for fear of being at an immediate disadvantage if I miss. I completely understand that the goal was to isolate it as a long range weapon.

However, the SMG, taking the middle range, can very easily be effective at close range as well as long range to a degree. I'm not suggesting a nerf of the SMG to specialize it further, that is the farthest thing from what I want to see happen. Making the ranges cut-and-dry detracts from play. An SMG should be at a disadvantage in close range against a shotgun, but it shouldn't lose every time. A semi should be at a disadvantage against an SMG in mid-range, but it shouldn't be useless.

It's important that the weapons encroach upon eachothers' roles. Otherwise it would be simply boring, and very little skill would come into play. We don't want every player in an Arena map to be holding a shotgun, or every player on a gen map holding a rifle. That's just not fun or exciting.

We are here because the Universe offers conditions so life can evolve,to the point where(at least one)species,in a small planet around a star lost between millions of galaxies,is able to ask itself:What was my origin? (M. Gleiser)

Judging by the falling number of testers of the RC, I'd say this one is a miss.
