At 100 blocks away, not fog range. And if you wanted realistic shotgun, it would be only have an effective range of about about 30–40 meters. No fun using it in AoS because of the size of the maps.

Shotgun only works properly when you are 1-2 blocks away from your enemy (useful in arena), but even THEN, it still sometimes fails you.

Unless you are a total tunnel camper, relying on the shotgun is foolhardy.

no, you can use all the guns, more people use the smg than the shotgun, and sometimes depending on the size of the arena map people use rifles. I sometimes rarely see people using a shotgun.

i've never really liked to use the shotgun as a weapon ever since it came out. i always like to use it as a joke once in a while for some fun. i've notcied though if you have a pretty accurate sight like Enari's sight, the shotgun is actually pretty damn accurate. that being said, the accuracy randomizer thing still screws you over a bit.

even at 30 blocks, the shotgun is only semi deadly and shoots 100% to the right or left of the player you are aiming at.

I got a streak of 10 with the shotgun, It's pretty reliable when used right.

shotgun is a point defence weapon. SMG are a rush control weapon. Rifles are a ranged attack weapon.

If you don't use all three correctly then you're just a poor sport or you never learned the tricks.


run your self a squad of 2 rifles, 2 smg and a shotty on INF maps.

Use 3 rifles and 2 smg on CTF attack.

CTF Defence is 2,2,1 again.

TC Offences is 3,1,1 with the properly built walls.

Shotguns are important parts of the attack and defense situation of battle. The shot gun player is not a "rush" guy, or a "point man" he is the guy you put in key positions to maintain control of the grid. He stays low. He is an ambusher.

The man or woman behind the shot gun should be thinking like a swift, ninja sort. You're not some one who operates on fair ground you make the battle unfair for your enemy.

Infact that is true of all combat, but shotguns especially. If i had a Shot Gunner with me on every deployment to defend or attack, i'd be so happy.
