The lack of teamwork and what we can do about it

For all things AoS!

Lol, I made a thread about this issue a few minutes ago.

Communication is something that's rare these days. I hardly see anyone using the chat to form strategies or just asking for help. The language barriers are the biggest problem, but people should still be encouraged to communicate among their team mates.

should just hire a team of realtime translators (a couple for every language) that listen in on server chat and automatically translate for everyone

Seems totally possible in an indie game with no funding or sponsorship.

The problem would be hosting this, if Ben pays someone to do this we would need to turn AoS into a p2p game, or we would need to find people who are abl to host 24/7 those servers on their Homelands.

^This.
Or we can find a way to intergrate Google Translate into game chat.

Google Translate?
GOD, PLEASE, NO!

It only seems to be good, but when I see what it translates a typical English sentence into Polish...

PXYC wrote:You have probably noticed, as I have, the lack of teamwork that made this game great and different from the others. What implementation caused this lack of teamwork? Was it just that we got a bad crowd to play Ace of Spades? Is it something missing from the game, and if so, what is this missing element that would make this game fun to play again?

I actually work better as a lone wolf, for some reason. Maybe it's because, as a sniper, being away from the rest of the team is part of the job. But even before the rifle accuracy went down the crapper in .75 and I could actually play as a footsoldier, I still functioned better as a lone warrior. Even in the real world, I have never been into sports. And most sport requires team work.

I mean, it's not like I can't function working as part of a group (I play L4D2, where team work is required), I just don't really prefer to do in this game. This may be due to several factors (getting into the discussion part of it), such as lack of voice chat, making team communication hard and the general lack of inclination in people to do so. Plus, there is also no tactical reason to do so. Three players working as part of a group have no real advantage of any kind over a sniper hiding in the hills or an airstrike or a 12-year-old popping out of a hole he dug and spraying with the now over-powered SMG. See what I mean?

However, PXYC, next time we are both on Minit, I'll see if I can stop being a lone wolf for long enough to help you out! ;D

We attach collars to the necks of every player. Then if the AoSTC (ace of spades teamwork control) finds their teamwork unsuitable, they explode.

^Best way to solve the problem.

Maybe an official game mode, where the goal cannot be accomplished alone, and must require different players with their own specialities/equipment given in the game mode to reach the goal, together.

Once there is one or two game modes which force down team work, other game modes which don't physically need it may follow suit, as playing style / communication will be developed from these official game modes.

I think simply more instruction in each game mode as to how to win that mode would help. I know that the first time I went in a few games modes i was unclear as to the objectives. Maybe a small instructional page before the team select page?

I do not really mind it, it all just depends on which server you play on, some of them have a lot of communication while some do not have any. maybe some more things to encourage helping each other(like medkits, catapults, you know) might be a cool idea.

a lot of things are hard to say with text, ie the finer ponits of building.
a way to put map markers down to let player know where bunkers and tunnels are will be a great help.
just saying it is in B6 is no good.
