Setting a world record?

For all things AoS!

Not too much bandwidth? Goon Haven eats up about a terabyte a month per Ace of Spades server (that means a terabyte for GH1, GH2, and GH3) for a full 32 people playing at once.

Tocksman, that's for a month. This would be for like a day or two.

Also this may be a good motivation to kick Ben's ass about fixing the number of player support. It SHOULD support any number of players, but he has used some horribley hackish code and made it difficult for himself...

It would pretty badass to have ace of spades in the guiness world record books... and it would also lead to more players :D

Fully supporting this.
Not too sure if the community is big enough.
+Most of the people who play AOS in my opinion came here because of bad computers or bad internet connections (that means in no way that the game is not awesome), so many players from the community will not be able to participate in this.

Just think of how much bandwidth AoS would eat up per second with 999+ players on at once.

A darn big amount:
Assuming Goon Haven uses up 1 terabyte per month:
~ 1 000 000 megabytes / ~ 30 days in a month / 24 hours in a day / 60 minutes in an hour / 60 seconds = about 0.3858 MB/second.

Multiply that by 999, and you get about 385 megabytes per second, meaning to run the server for even 60 seconds it would require 23 125 megabytes. However, if Ben says that they can handle it, (though I really don't know how they would,) then fine by me.

I think it'd be amazing if it actually got all organized. I'm not 100% certain we'd actually be able to get 1000 players on the server in the first place due to interest or knowledge of the event. It would help if an announcement is made on the front page of the website and especially on the server list, directing players towards the massive battle. Hell, maybe even tip off a popular Internet/gaming news outlet (Kotaku, RockPaperShotgun, etc.) about the event. Get some coverage. And not to mention it'd probably be the most fun battle in the history of AoS.

Would be heaven for hackers, though...

Even 200 players would be enough. Gen map is just too big for 32.

so long as they have >20gb/s bandwidth it should be fine...
