If both version have same amount of gameplay and features and other shitz, shuold the OpenGL version cost about 1-3 dollars. Hopefully so, just like Team Fortress 2 F2P and Premium

PS: Acctually you cost 5 dollars mininum to upgrade TF2 to Premium, as Steam Wallet mininum limit is 5 dollars, and some items in Mann Co. Store only cost 49 cents :P

Maybe if, say, shams server, you gac run the voxlap, but a person (that bought the opengl) can be on the same server. Does that make sense ?

If Ben only made graphics change(like i said above) then it should be okay, since the core gameplay parts doesn't get changed much... Right?

people who signed up for forums before 1.0 releases. Should be able to get it. Fair for most of us who don`t have credit cards, and those CoD kiddies pay for it! WE also need a release time before you get it free if you are in forums. Anyone with me? :D

Then Ben wouldn't make any money, as most of the forumbase are the ones willing to pay for the game.

Voxlap (current version) Is being made by Ben, and will stay free (Voxlap can't be used commercially), unless Ben changes to another engine. this is what is currently in beta (.75, .76, etc.)

Nope, Ben bought a commercial voxlap license from Ken Silverman.

At least that is what I had heard, I wish Mat or Ben would post here to dispel of any rumors.

Except the new features will be shit so the old one will be better (plus only n00bs will upgrade to the new version, while everyone else stays on the original servers to escape the tactical nuclear strikes Ben is sure to implement)

Oh man, that's such a great example of a Hasty Generalization Fallacy! Need to take note of this.

We are here because the Universe offers conditions so life can evolve,to the point where(at least one)species,in a small planet around a star lost between millions of galaxies,is able to ask itself:What was my origin? (M. Gleiser)

As some people have mentioned, Ace of Spades has been split into 2 branches. The OpenGL branch will be version 1.0 and up and the current VOXLAP client will be 0.xx. Both me and Ben have been working mostly on 1.0, but we've done a little work on the 0.xx branch also (as you can see by the changelog Ben put up).

1.0 will not be backwards-compatible with 0.xx, mostly because we've added a lot of new features that would take a lot of time to backport to the old engine. Many parts of the engine have been rewritten from scratch and is now a lot easier to maintain and faster to write for, so we will be focusing on 1.0 for the most part.

tl;dr: OpenGL woo

One of the the reasons that I signed up for Ace of Spades is because of the Game was free, so I think that If you donate and then get something special that is fine, but if the the game lacks if you don't donate then I think that many will stop playing the game.
