AoS- Involvement

Postby TheGeekZeke101 » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:51 am

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzWS7RXk ... ture=g-u-u

Watching that video I thought- What if this game "poped" if we, as a community, had way more involvement in what happened with the game? What if we were the reason something was made?

Maybe this game hasn't "poped" yet because there is no involvement.

So, I was thinking, what about contests for features? What would you of thought if Ben asked us to make the turret model or the rpg? What if Ben asked us to choose the next weapon implemented?

So, thoughts?

I am a games programmer (of very crappy games I might add).

And quite frankly making a game based off what the community says is quite revolutionary to me.

I DON'T HAVE TO THINK! BOOHYEAH! I am not very creative BTW.

The problem with that is 99% of the suggestions they'll get are stupid and the 1% that actually make any sense are probably already in the works.

Before everyone goes off with all their great ideas why not let the devs work on core gameplay and ironing out the bugs first?

Yes, but it's easy to pick out the good ones and go from there.

As for the bugs and stuff, welcome to .75, would you like fries with that?

I honestly can't see this working. Even some good ideas will likely be balanced poorly, or won't mix the ideas other people have. Honestly I just don't trust leaving the development of this game to the community, and I hope ben doesn't either.

Maybe we could have a "TBA Features" subforum, where only Ben could make posts, but we could reply.
Ben could announce a new feature, like the upcoming rpg and we could help him by making models, sounds, icons, making sure that only the best things get implemented, as there would be competition/variations.
Also, that would be a good way to get opinion about features Ben would like to implement, without lurking around 20 different posts about the same thing and trying to get a verdict.

Im going to make a post about this in Forum Suggestions.

Hehe, yes, but we asked for it, eh? Maybe if we had more involvement, it wouldn't of been so bad as a starter.

We should have more polls for features
(such as the weapon one which decided shotgun should be added)

EDIT: The shotgun wasn't always useless! It could headshot from fog distance

the shotgun was just a bad idea from the start, it barely fit more than the sniper rifle idea did, we already had an SMG.

I think more polls would be good, it kind of seems like nothing is really happening anymore, or everything is just saved for the 1.0 update.

I don't think it should be like the shotgun thing, but I'd rather see a poll where we have some options of Turret models, and we vote for the better model. Heck, maybe even some modders could submit their own.

It seems nice in theory, but I trust Ben's ideas and opinions over those of the general community's.

It's easy to see where I'm coming from when you look at the suggestions page. http://ace-spades.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=65

I'm looking forward to the auto-updates so that Ben could experiment freely.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.
