Heh, I checked mine as well and I also have 1.4...

Hm, looks the question now is: "What version of OpenGL do you have?", not "Do you have a graphics card?".

Lol.

OpenGL 3.3 is more than enough to run AoS 1.0, lol.

It's the latest version of OpenGL, IIRC.

I think our lowest requirement will be an integrated Intel GMA950 GPU. Of course, you can only expect mediocre to terrible performance with such a low-end card (trust me, the Intel GMA950 is really the most low-end you can get; it is a nightmare to work with).

In terms of compatibility, we have really set the bar as low as possible without sacrificing 'flashiness' too much.
Any GPUs with support for the following OpenGL extensions should run 1.0:

GL_ARB_vertex_program
GL_ARB_fragment_program
GL_ARB_vertex_buffer_object

The OpenGL version is mostly irrelevant, as long as you have those extensions.

According to this report, this covers 98% of GPUs. The unsupported 2% mostly have missing/old drivers, so PEBKAC. It should be said that both OS X and Linux can guarantee the availability of these extensions, either through the LLVM-backed software fallback in OS X or through Mesa3D on Linux.

Most people should get a major performance boost with 1.0 due to the GPU hardware acceleration. I can't run the VOXLAP client on high resolutions without getting a significant drop in FPS, but in 1.0, it's a non-issue.

I hope this answered your questions!

Well, I just downloaded an application called GL View to check my OpenGl extensions (I have an integrated Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family which probably can't run the game but it's still worth a shot) and when I click on the extensions tab I get an Unhandled exception error. >.>

Do you know any other way to check your OpenGL extensions, Mat?

EDIT: Never mind, I managed to get it to work. Turns out that my GPU doesn't support any of those OpenGL extensions.

Great.

According to this, your GPU should be supported. Do you have outdated drivers?

I doubt that could run the game, the graphics card seems to be crappier than mine, lol.

Ah well, I guess the only thing we can do now is get drunk and not think about this. :(

According to this, your GPU should be supported. Do you have outdated drivers?
I went to Intel's website to see if I need an update and that small program that detects driver updates said that my GPU drivers are up-to-date.

However, I managed to get the information regarding my extensions by clicking on "See Details" in GL Viewer in the Summary part of the program, not the Extensions part (if you're familiar with this program, that is).

I could be looking at the wrong thing, since clicking on the Extensions tab gives me an Unhandled Exception error.

Know any other programs that give extension information?

EDIT: One sec, it seems that my outdated Direct X9 shit seems to cause the Unhandled Exception error.

Will try to update.

EDIT 2: According to GL Viewer, my DX9 version is 9.0c and was released in June 2010, however when I click on the "Get latest version" button, it leads me to THIS site which gives a download for a version released in April 2011 (version 9.29.1974).

I downloaded the new update but the installer says that my DX9 is up-to-date. >.>

I think that my computer is a troll.

Currently searching for a way to fix the Unhandled Exception error, there seem to be several solutions.

Ah well back to bordgames like Axis&Allies and my vodka.

I do need to buy a laptop for school this year, so there is a slight chance that I might buy AOS 1.0. then. But I doubt it. so when 1.0 is out I say goodbye to AOS.

Ah well I had a good time. ( hey Ben/mat. Could give a small demo for 1.0 or so to try it out if it runs. haha I try to be optimistic.

Gosh this made me happy :D

But I still think you should have voxlap available in 1.0 too.

Also: I think you should have a graphical demo, basically a 512x512 block map with 32 player models being drawn randomly.

This is so that people can test how well 1.0 will work on there system before they actually buy it.
