The carried blocks could cover you a bit?

Yes, I'm recreating this thread to pop it back into discussions (well, since forum updated itself from that unofficial into official). I'll try to keep it minimalistic this time:

You may have seen people building stuff, eh? And keeping their current active slot as the block? Well, I've been wondering if that could cover you a bit from bullets, with a some kind of a durability until they break and leave you unarmed for a couple seconds. Even though this sounds pretty stupid, I've seen lots of different situations where an enemy could have survived an unfortunate destiny from my bullets, while they were just building rather usele- useful fortifications.

Crouching makes you a bit more covered from the front, obviously.

Even though this can be overlooked by the people who nearly always aim for the head only, sure this doesn't prevent anyone from doing it normally. But this can be very, very useful for the people who are building covers in the fields (meaning the people who rush forward, quickly crouch and build some cover on front of them, preventing to get shot immidiately).

Not a gamebreaker I'd guess, also techically possible for sure.

So what do you think about it?

I think I actually like this idea, granted that the player would only be defended by the area of the block itself, thus still vulnerable to headshots and leg shots rather than it being a straight up shield.

I like the idea of giving builders a better chance at survival.
I don't know how many times I've picked off a bunch of them when their backs were turned.. (I know I'm horrible)

That said, I suppose it wouldn't help them much if I'm shooting them in the back. :P

I like this idea, there are already strategies that builders can use to not die, but the extra defense buff would help, I mean why take the element that sets this apart from other games and make it difficult to use? Building should be more accessible. This is just one way to help.
