then make a footman class! your average normal class, normal stats, able to choose weapons.
also, everyone needs to have a spade, we don't need knives because the spade can do melee.
there needs to be some type of stats such as speed, health etc.
like, a stealthsman! faster than average class, stealthy (doesn't make sounds when running) silenced pistol,flashbang.
machinegunner! more HP! machineguns able to grief enemies! stronger but has more recoil! has frag and spade.
okay the engineer needs to have a distinct block, like checkered, meaning it's much more stronger. i don't know but you could make an option to make it checkered so you could place normal blocks for camoflauging.
tunnelers! faster tunneling! can place mines! has max. of 2. has shotgun.

i'll think of others...

Sorry for not reading the topic and even topic starter. Classes is bad thing for this game. Classes always are something bad and good at the same time.

The good thing about classes is teamwork. Classes do involve a way more teamwork. Teamwork is awesome, especially for this game. But lets talk about bad thing classes do - they do kill variability. Yes, they decrease amount of decisions that player can make in certain situation. That is really bad, especially for the game that is made of variability. There is alot of things that can make teamwork more rewarding. Main thing i did suggested, and it's only about map design (that does kinda mean almost all in this game). So bassically there is no need to sacrifice variability in favore of teamwork.

EDIT:
I'v read up on first post. Medic whould dominate all the classes. And General stuff is bad for public game. It is fine in the BF, couse squad leader only have a spawny thing, and does not really do any other crap with team. I like it on some kind of clan war mode, that i will try to suggest or make when Ben will unhardcode map's preferences.
I am russian brony and warhammer-fag. I also have bad case of "Why doesn't this crap works like it suppoused to?". Deal with it.

Classes are a big NO NO in my doctrine.

I just want portablable tents. To act as forward operating bases. So you can build defenses around it.So you can actualy advance on the frontlines. But be wanred the enmey can take your forward operating base and use it agianst you.

Maby zeppelins/airship that can drop ammo/medkit/grenadesSearch for that idea. On the suggestion board.

No No No No and f' no to classes! They will either be horribly imbalanced or utterly useless, there is NO middle ground!


Why the flying f' do you people want to be limited in what you can do in such a way anyways? I cannot understand the fascination with classes.

Well classes do limiting you. You better be getting some custom weapon scheme instead of the class. You need classes only if ypu cant balance the stuff you made, or to involve teamwork. In this game there is alot of solutions to the both without any sacrifice.

Good idea, but should be a mod... or a side function so that server owners can choose which maps to enable the function on

and a scout with a sniper is pretty op....

*sigh* this is where the game gets too complicated.
I think there should just be a simple slot system - no more, no less:
Primary: Shotgun, SMG, Rifle. (pick one)
Secondary: Pistol or Grenades (again, pick one)
and 50 blocks as normal.

Simple. You don't have to buy stuff just choose when you respawn.

Look,the sniper:TOO OP,if snipers had double zoom then no fair play really,it would just make the game more campish then it already is.
The idea about binoculars seems to much to me,it would make the game lose it's difficult of making a good airstrike.
The silenced 9mm seems like a VERY hard thing to make to me,I mean like if you want a not so very noisy pistol then
Ben needs to make it so that nobody can edit/replace the sound.
The mines is where it gets bad,mines are not supposed to be in game because it will make it too hard,It's enough hard to keep two things in the head:snipe and jump/crouch.
The remote bomb will make this game too hard and time consuming,It's like mines but it's more devastating and of course you can just sit in a corner protected from anything and then just look out and see if people is there and then just boom.
The Fake Intel is very creative I like that,but themightykomrade gave the PERFECT reason why it's pointless.
The Med kits is ok it is hard to type in the middle of a battle right at the enemy base then your finally done a guy comes and shots you in the head.
Definitely needed.
The General/Captain idea is a bit of bad and a bit of okay,you see if we would have a general then we must have then a good system that will only choose the most trust able person(not a troll or greifer or teamkiller)that can make the game more "fair"(not to much help).
It's good that you also put in the demote and vote system.
The bad thing about that is that it's not really necessary to have a block against damage it would also make the game easier and no challenging,also people will sometimes spam and beg too much to be a captain,I think that it will happen and always will happen.
The blocks should only be 50 nothing below/above the current numbers of blocks.
