[Poll] Bullet Drop

Postby StackOverflow » Sun Mar 25, 2012 8:28 pm

One feature I've always wanted to see introduced into Ace of Spades is bullet drop. The concept of bullet drop is that as a bullet travels, it eventually starts to drop, just as in real life.

A prime example for bullet drop is Battlefield 3, as seen in this video. BF3 got a lot right with bullet drop with speeds, leading shots, and adding a sense of realism to the game.

It adds a whole new dimension of playing. Gameplay is no longer about who sees the other person first and is able to pull the trigger. It instead forces you to think about when/where you're shooting.

If you vote no, please give some insight as to what your reasoning is. This poll/thread is purely for feedback and has no intentions of being implemented into the actual game at the time of writing this.

I keep pressing the Yes button but it only gives one point!

Support. But what if bullet travel time was also calculated?

I like this,

I love the concept, shooting over range will finally take a lever of skill.

Something which has rarely if at all, ever existed in this game.

Yeah, I would definitely like to see this implemented. Sounds really cool, especially when it goes into action.

I enjoy seeing AoS as a game with simple graphics but complex and realistic mechanics.

I don't mind, though I feel alot should be changed with this.

#1. The rifle would have to take it's place as a rifle. Would loose it's distance, accuracy, and etc for far distances

#2. Sniper would be added. Sniper would sway, have zoomable scopes, and be more affected with bullet drop

If you disagree, I'll give you some reasons for why your retarded.

(Mind making this a poll choice, referring to only if my ideas were implemented would they want bullet drop?)

I voted yes, it adds more place for other weapons to be added without them being re-skins of each other.

I like this idea, but how much would the bullet drop at fog range?

I dont see reason to add a Sniper rifle. Why couldnt someone just lead the target and adjust for bullet drop with the rifle? It isnt like 80% of people use scope already, right

Rifle would have some inaccuracies, while sniper is pinpoint-accurate (considering that you account for bullet drop).

Would make Rangefinders in scoped much more useful.

I still dont understand, even if rifle has more bullet drop, people could still just adjust the aim for it.

The only way I see that makes adding a Sniper Rifle something reasonable would be if the Rifle doesnt 1-hit headshot at longer ranges.

AKA the Rifle bullets are also inaccurate since they could hit to the left and to the right. On the other hand, the Sniper bullets are pinpoint accurate, considering that you account for bullet drop.
