How To Be Taken Seriously

Got a great new idea for the game?

How To Be Taken Seriously

Postby Paratrooper » Fri Mar 16, 2012 12:53 pm

Hey guys,

Just a little advice on how to structure your suggestion, hopefully so people will take it more seriously \:D/

(Also read: The DO NOT Suggest List - viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2090)

-------------------------------

1) BEFORE you post your suggestion, CHECK that it doesn't already exist...

We have the forum search function, and a sticky to help with this.

-------------------------------

2) Make your title clear and relevant!

BAD example: "This would be cool"

GOOD example: "Reduced block Damage"

-------------------------------

3) TRY to use good spelling and grammar! :D

I know its not always going to be perfect, but maybe try writing it out in Microsoft word first? and correcting the mistakes before posting. Or use Google chrome!

Why is this important, well...A lot of people if they see a ton of error's in the OP tend to capitalise on these, and ignore the actual subject of the thread, or just take the OP less seriously. Which is not something you want!

-------------------------------

4) STRUCTURE your thoughts!

If you have an idea, you want to make is as comprehensive as possible. When posting try to include...

- A brief explanation of the idea (intro)

- A more in depth explanation

- How it would benefit the community/game

- Possible draw backs

Here is a good example of this - viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2247

-------------------------------

And lastly be PREPARED to answer questions, engage in debates regarding your suggestion etc.

Annnd, BE FRIENDLY! :DDD

-----------------------------------------------

Thanks for reading,

Please bear in mind this thread is a work in progress, so if you have any suggestions to make regarding this thread. Don't hesitate to post and let me know :]

To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

2.1) Never tell us how awesome your idea is in the title:
Bad: "A WONDERFUL IDEA"
Good: "Give everyone martydom"

2.2) Don't tell me to read your thread:
Bad: "MUST READ VERY IMPORTANT: Dog mode"
Good: "Dog mode"

2.3) You probably noticed a common denominator here, but: do not post a title in all-caps, or excessive caps!
Bad: "SQUAD VOTEKICK"
Good: "Squad Votekick"

2.4) No funny but irrelevant thread titles...
Bad: "You know the feel when you are pwning deuces but then you are like 'Oh shit Jimmy, where's the cheeze??'"
Good: "Decrease jump height"

Why isn't this sticky'd yet?
That would increase the average IQ of suggestion writers by 20%...

No offense for "good" suggestion writers.

Sticky worthy indeed. You should improve the original post over the time when some suggestions appear.
Give more examples and information, but still keep it simple.

Why no one's already thought about this?

I was also kind of surprised no one had already done this,

Im just really OCD about the suggestions section, so I try to think of ways to improve it.

for as long as the post button will not have a password protection with the only way to obtain the password being finding it inside some sort of manual for noobs AND decoding it making sure that <20 IQ polaks can't find it, these retarded posts will keep appearing.

BTW, no bitching about formatting:
this Is written with a phone, which changes "noobs" to "moons"

Also: shutting up because i have caused some annoyances lately.

Changed the topic to an "announcement" hopefully that will encourage people to read this before they post. Good job DE.

Dunno where to post this note, so I just leave it here.

Sometimes people create topics, where they suggest to add/change/remove weapons, vehicles, airstrikes, or anything else that affects balance. IMO it's a wrong way to make balance better, because when discussing such suggestions we need to imagine the whole scene. So, when you create a new topic about rebalancing, please, let us know, how will your modification affect balance.

Perhaps you could add 'dont use colour formatting unless it is neccacary', i just saw a thread where the OP had done half in white, and some blue and red, not easy to read at all.
