AFAIK current map is 256 long x256 wide x64 high (correct me if I'm wrong)
While I understand that simply increasing map size would require each player to download a lot more data, I suggest adding ability to rotate it, so it become 256 long x 64 wide x256 high.
Even better would be option to freely manipulate size of the map as long as it's under certain limit (4194304 blocks, like now) in certain range (choose number from 1024, 512, 256, 128 and 64) so you can have maps like 512x128x64 or 1024x64x64 or 256x128x128 ect. or something small if you want quicker download and don't need any more (i.e. 64x64x64)
Why? To make some game modes even more challenging and fun.
Imagine Babel server where you need to build 4x higher tower
Or hallway so high that you can't see where it ends
Or direct encounter maps (similar to PP or GH) limited with map borders rather than dull water
Or TOW with 24 tents on your way instead of 6
Ect.
