Realistic Block Gravity

Postby kelin » Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:38 am

have you ever played a match of ace of spades, where everyone was griefing all the structures? (like in harbour2)
doesn't it seem unrealistic when a whole building disappears because of destroying one block?

my suggestion to improve ace of spades would be that falling objects are not destroyed on impact but are just moved to the highest solid block eg:

This way it is harder for griefers to destroy buildings, when the block falls the block should do damage such as when a roof falls on you, you would be killed instantly, other than be unharmed by tiny broken pixels. The physics are similar to minecraft's sand falling but the object is treated as a solid object, as opposed to single blocks.

if you like/dislike my suggestion please vote in the poll

BTW if this is implemented in future update please give credit to me

I am fully agree with this idea. One griefer on the bridgewars ruined our structures just in few strikes. So, i think this will be a good addition, but still needs some improvement.

well I agree with this. going to one of those bridge maps and seeing the ENTIRE bridge fall to the ground is annoying.

Hmm... How about having around half of the blocks disappear? Sapping a tower would get annoying since you'd have to do it all block by block. Imagine that half of the blocks would turn into useless ruble.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

Yeah, your idea is not original, even though I like it.

Anyone else think tetris?
And also, tis not an original idea, as chaos pointed out, so no credit :P

And as to not be warned i probably should say somethings constructive:

If the block gravity was to be realistic, surley staircases and other unbalenced objects should start leaning and falling on to their side when the bottem block is gone, and it wouldnt be fair unless some blocks disapeared as (like paratrooper pointed out) you would have to sap block by block

What about this: If a building is big enough, when it colapses, the bottom blocks are "smashed" and disappear. How many disappear depends on how much "weight" is over the block.

I more mean the fact that if someone destroyed the bottem of a tower in babel, the center of gravity is no-where near the bottem block so it would not fall straight down, more on its side somewhere.
and also, i could never get tired of seeing the bridgewars bridge fall

Eh, I was referring more to the "some blocks disapearing" part.

It would be nice, if 1. it was a server option and 2. it was changed a bit.

How it is now it would be pretty much impossible to completely take down a tower in Babel.

This is a great idea and I would love to see it implemented. Seems like the most logical way of doing it to me.
