Any and all questions about USAB will most likely be answered here: http://www.theusabclan.com. However, there are some other things I feel the need to list.

In the event of there being a question that is not answered anywhere, please feel free to post here. Not in this thread, of course, since it's locked, but in another topic.

----USAB Forum Rules----
The USAB forum rules are very simple:

1. Follow all General Forum Rules at all times.
2. Follow all USAB Ace of Spades rules at all times. http://www.theusabclan.com/ace-of-spade ... ades-rules
3. Follow the clan Constitution at all times. http://www.theusabclan.com/constitution

As a summary:
1. No trolling
2. No spamming
3. No advertising
4. No posting offensive materials
5. No starting drama
6. Keep double or multi-posting to a minimum
7. Failure to follow rules will result in your threads being deleted/locked or possibly worse.

We at USAB want to keep our forums clean and friendly! :D

----Ace of Spades Old Forum Post (Minus the stuff that is already elsewhere on the clan section or website)----

✈INTRODUCTION✈
Hey guys. After a great deal of prodding and procrastinating, I've finally managed
to get the USAB clan ready for Ace of Spades. As some of you may know, the USAB Clan is (or at least hopes to be) a multi-platform clan for mature and friendly players. We're currently working on reorganizing the clan on Xbox, but this is the official start of the clan on PC!

✈GENERAL INFORMATION✈
Clan History
The United States Airborne Clan was started in 2007 by a group of friends, one of whom is now the clan leader alongside yours truly. The clan tended to fade in and out of existence every so often, even going so far as to merge with another clan in 2008. When I joined it in 2009, it only had a handful of members, all of them being friends of other members. I tried to organize the clan a bit more, but the leaders at the time weren't very proactive. We tried GameBattles for a little bit but stopped when we realized how much of a waste of time it was. The USAB Clan has been declining ever since, and I think this is what it needs to get it started.

Clan Goals
The USAB Clan does not intend on making its members into "MLG B4TTL3M45T3RZ". Nor does it intend on accepting any eight year old who can type a sentence. The USAB Clan is looking to create a community of mature, level-headed people who enjoy the games they play rather than try to be "MLG PR0".

Naming
If you join the USAB clan, you must either put a [USAB] clan tag before your name, or you must change your name to USABx???? (Make sure whatever you put as ???? is in capital letters. Don't ask me why, that's just the way it is).

Clan Rules
This is a list of rules pertaining to Ace of Spades.
1. There will be no griefing (Destruction of friendly structures).
2. Do not go into servers specifically to advertise the clan. You can still promote the clan, however, just not for the sole purpose of advertising.
3. Do not teamkill on purpose.
4. Do not use any hack or any outside script or program that gives you an unfair advantage over other players or would be classified as cheating (Modifying the kv6, wav, and png files does not count as this).
5. Treat other players with respect.
6. No member of the USAB Clan shall be a member of any other clan. (Takes effect on 12/10/11)
This list can also be found at http://www.theusabclan.com/ace-of-spade ... ades-rules

IMPORTANT: The clan Constitution, which is the universal rules for any game the clan has a presence in, can be found here: http://www.theusabclan.com/constitution MAKE SURE YOU READ THE CONSTITUTION!

Skype
The USAB clan has a Skype channel called "Official USAB Clan Chat". It's USAB members only, so we're pretty lenient about what's said there. Just try not to be annoying or anything.

Regarding Xbox
The clan is currently getting reorganized on Xbox, which is why it may appear as if we don't have any current members. Please note that the USAB clan's main game is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but we play plenty of other games. Also, do not spam us with invites, private chat requests, party chat requests, or messages. You will be blocked.

Armory
The armory is based off of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare weapons and other things related to the game. It can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1543

Applying to Become an Officer
If you wish to become a USAB Officer please send an email about it to [email protected] or [email protected] for review. Please do not send us an e-mail that says "PLZ PLZ PLZ M4K3 M3 4N 0FF1C3R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Or you will be denied!

Clarifications: The "Slayer" that leads the clan alongside me is USABxSLAYER, NOT the Slayer from RoT. I know this has caused confusion in the past and I thought I felt the need to address it.

What is IRC?
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a multi-user, multi-channel chatting system. Imagine sitting in front of your computer and "talking" through typed messages with either one person or many other people from all over the Internet, all in real time! Best of all, once you get set up, chatting on IRC is totally free!

How do I get one of these?
You will need to download a client, mIRC is recommended:
You can find the mIRC install files here: http://www.mirc.com/get.html
Install mIRC in your preferred folder, and start it up!

Setting up mIRC.
When first starting up, mIRC will prompt you with a window that it will expire in 30 days. Don't worry about this, you will still be able to use it after thirty days without a problem.

After pressing continue, You will be prompted with the mIRC Options form:
Image

  • Real name: Do not fill in your real name for your own security! A nickname will suffice here.
  • Email adress: You can put your e-mail here (they won't send you any mail), though you are not obliged to. You can fill in anything you wish.
  • Nickname: Fill in your nickname.
  • Alternative: Fill in a second nickname in case your first one is in use.

When filled in, click on "Servers" under the "Connect" tree.
Image

  • IRC Network: Select "Quakenet"
  • IRC Server: Select a random server nearby where you live.

When done, go back to "Connect" and press on "Connect to server" (You can also connect by the thunder icon in the icon bar.)

Congratulations! You got on the Quakenet IRC Server!
It's time for your first command. Type this "/join #USAB".
This will pop up a new window. You're now on the official USAB channel!

Registering with Quakenet.
First, switch to the status window to minimize the consequences of potential mistakes.
  • Step 1: Requesting your details:

Type this command: "/msg Q HELLO yourmail yourmail" your email will need confirmation so use a valid one!
Code: Select all
Code:
/msg Q HELLO [email protected] [email protected] -> *Q* HELLO [email protected] [email protected]
-
-Q- Hello, YourNick. A new user account has been created for you, with nick YourNick.
-
-Q- OK, Your login information has been sent to "[email protected]". please check your email for further instructions.
-
-Q- (Remember that it can take a while for the email to arrive and also make sure to check your junkmail folder)

Q should now have messaged you that a mail has been sent to your e-mail adress.
Note, sometimes, Q might not be on the network you are on. In such a case you will get the message Q No such nick/channel If this is the case, you will have to wait untill the bot gets back online. (Sometimes changing server might work, I wont go into the details)

  • Step 2: Retreiving your details:
Check your mail for Q's message. Click on the first link you see in the mail (under "To get your password please visit:") and follow the simple steps asked.

Code: Select all
Code:
To get your password please visit:

http://www.quakenet.org/verify/? to your verification>

When done successfully, You will see a page with a line like this:

Code: Select all
To auth yourself to Q, type the following command:
/msg [email protected] AUTH YourNick CodeHere

  • Step 3: Authing

Paste this line in your status window (Make sure that it is only that line, that there are no spaces in front of it, and no whitelines above or under!)

Code: Select all
/MSG [email protected] AUTH Dencake v32uJSj7
-> *[email protected]* AUTH Dencake v32uJSj7
-
-Q- AUTH'd successfully.
-
-Q- Remember: NO-ONE from QuakeNet will ever ask for your password.  NEVER send your password to ANYONE except [email protected].

Getting to ChatAbout
Getting to Chatabout is a bit different. If you already have Quakenet open in an IRC client, just type in "/server -m irc.chatabout.net" in and it will take you to ChatAbout.
Once you're there, type in "/j #USAB.Server" and you're there!

If you're using webchat, it's a bit different. If this is the case, head on over to http://en.irc2go.com/webchat/?net=ChatAbout and type your desired channel into where it asks you for your channel and your desired nick where it asks you for your nick. Note that you will need the most recent version of Java to run this in-browser app.

Registering With NickServ
Most IRC networks feature NickServ and ChanServ, which are basically better version's of Quakenet's Q. Registering with it is fairly simple.

  • Step 1: Giving NickServ your Details
When you join the network, type in "/ns register [password] [e-mail address] in. Something like this should pop up.

    Code: Select all
-NickServ- An email containing nickname activation instructions has been sent to [your e-mail].
    -
-NickServ- If you do not complete registration within one day, your nickname will expire.
    -
-NickServ- [your nick] is now registered to [your e-mail], with the password [your password].
    -

  • Step 2: Verifying
After that, go to your e-mail. You should get an e-mail that looks like this:

    Code: Select all
    [your nick],

In order to complete your registration, you must send the following
    command on IRC:
/msg NickServ VERIFY REGISTER [your nick] [verification code]

Type that into your client and you should receive this message:

    Code: Select all
-NickServ- [your nick] has now been verified.
    -
-NickServ- Thank you for verifying your e-mail address! You have taken steps in ensuring that your registrations are not exploited.
    -

  • Step 3: Identifying
When you return to ChatAbout, you will not be identified with NickServ. To do this is simple, enter "/ns identify [your password] and you should receive this message:

    Code: Select all
-NickServ- You are now identified for [your nick].
    -

Congratulations! You are now identified with Nickserv!
