GIF avatar help

Whenever I try to add a GIF avatar I get "The URL you specified is invalid." even when it isn't.

Assistance please.

Is the URL that you're trying to use a direct image link? For example, a direct image would be http://i.imgur.com/UQkRn.jpg and an indirect image would be http://imgur.com/gallery/UQkRn

Also, I'm not sure if this will do anything, but if you haven't already, put http:// before the URL. If you really can't do it, just save the image to your computer and upload it that way.

I think I know what the problem is, When I tried to upload it from my computer it said it's size was too big. Would that be the cause of my problem?
