Screen recording systems

Postby SRL » Sat Jun 09, 2012 3:38 am

I'm having trouble finding software to record my games with. I've tried Camtasia, Hypercam, Bandicam, and Total Screen Recorder, which shut down immediately after I begin recording a game, and FRAPS only records in 30-second bursts, which is not nearly enough to record an entire game.

Help, please?

EDIT: I still have Total Screen Recorder on my computer, so...
EDIT: CamStudio works, but lags the game down severely. I need something that won't lag the game or something to fix the lag problem.
EDIT: I've recently acquired Spadille. Would it help to close everything but Spadille and the recording system? Or would setting Ace of Spades to run in a window help?

Fraps records in 30 second increments because you're using the free one. You could purchase Fraps, or just find one of the many cracked Fraps.exe downloads on the Internet. Personally, I use Camtasia.

Well, I don't have a credit/debit card, I don't want to get my parents to pay for it, and I don't have PayPal or stuff like that. I don't want to get arrested for infringing on illegal copyright acts, either.

Before anyone says I'm a loser who never moved out of his parent's house, I'm 13, for God's sake.

If all those programs just shut down when recording, you gotta start thinking whether there's something pretty wrong with your pc :S

Maybe they're sunning in the background. Look at the notification area (the bottom-right part of your screen), maybe the program was running there while you're recording.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

Sorry, but your words fail to make sense in my mind. Care to elaborate?

Windows XP: Look at the bottom right hand side of your computer. Is the logo of the screen recorder there? If so, It might be recording
Windows Vista: *SAME AS WINDOWS XP*
Windows 7: Does the icon appear at the bottom of the screen? In the task bar?

If this is happening. It might mean it is recording in the background.

Easy, to free up the space so you can play your game, I'll use an example.

I recently did a tutorial for my friend. I wasn't very familiar with screen recording, but I tried anyway.

My screen recorder minimized to the bottom of the screen (task bar), so it wouldn't get in the way.

I soon figured out that at the end of your recording you could make a clean recording and end it without having to open it up at the end. Using shortcuts, they are customizable and I really like them. In my case I press a button and it stops without me opening it up.

SHORT ANSWER

Its gone down to small, its still recording, but isn't getting in the way. Try just recording a normal desktop. Does it do it?

THINGS TO DO

Go into settings and change or find your shortcuts to pause, play and stop video.
Record a blank desktop with no programs open, does it do it?

Please report back,

Yes, it does run properly. Without any lag, too.
