Lag glitch

So shortly after I made a forum account, my ping in every server jumped to 600+. Naturally, this is extremely aggravating. Eventually I found the issue, its if I stay logged into the forums that this happens to me.
Am I the only getting this, and is there any way to fix it?

Is your browser downloading something in the background? If you're using Chrome, it has a tendency to download updates without announcing it to you.

It definitely doesn't have anything to do with the forums, your connection might not be that good though.

I can guarantee you it is involved with the forums. To make sure I wasn't hallucinating, I tested it 3 times. Logged into forums, laggy. Logout, smooth.
