On BF2,I usually play as:

Rebels: First I play as a vanguard and then a trooper-dont like wookiees or bothans.

Empire:Stormtrooper or Scout trooper at first,then sometimes officer with the nade launcher or the dark trooper.

CIS:Engineer or assault droid at first, then magnaguard,droidika or assasin droid.

Republic:Heavy trooper or Clone trooper at first, then usually jet trooper in crowded areas and Clone Commander (Galactic Marine) to scatter the enemy.

Some tips are:

Never use the Magnaguard,Droidika or Clone Commander against vehiclies.
To take down geonosians fast, get at long range and snipe them out of the air or flank them then grenade them.

To take down wampas fast (good way,you can get 4 kills on this before having to refill at an ammunition droid)
Play as the Rebel Vanguard, then place a mine, run forwards towards a wampa and attract its attention by shooting it with your pistol, then run back and jump into the trench (they have to go around and in the sides) and wait until they go boom.

Taking down droidikas is easy, shoot them with your weapon a few times-thermal detonator them and then wait till their shield goes down,then roll out of cover and take it down.

Or any guy with an LMG

Also a ranged tank if the game has them!

I like playing heavy gunners in heavily class based games like TF2 and SMNC, and I like either submachine gunning or sniping in more realism based shooters. In RPG/DotA styled games I usually like playing squishy ranged DPS classes/heroes.

Sniper in DotA
etc...
